Essential Downloads & Recent Topics

Other video games, TV shows, movies, general chit-chat...this is an all-purpose off-topic board where you can talk about anything that doesn't have its own dedicated section.

Do you like the idea of Essential Downloads & Recent Topics?

Essential Downloads & Recent Topics

Postby Andrew on Mon Oct 13, 2003 5:51 pm

Hey all,

I've been considering adding some new features to the main page - Essential Downloads and Recent Topics.

The Essential Downloads would basically be a listing of popular files that would be of interest to the casual NBA Live fan. Downloads such as the current roster update, the various Toolkits, DB Commander, etc.

Recent Topics is a feature used on a lot of websites these days. Basically it displays links to the latest forum posts. It doesn't have much use except to offer a direct link to the most recent forum posts, but as I said a lot of sites seem to use it and it's easy enough to add.

Well, let me know what you think. Remember, you don't have to be a registered member to vote in polls posted here in NLSC Issues.

I voted for "I only like Essential Downloads".
I think that's a great idea. It's what big community sites should have. (Y)

I don't think the 'newest posts' idea is bad. i just don't have a use for it, since i use the 'search all posts since last visit' feature anyway. :)

Yup, i'm all for Essential Downloads. Nice one 'Drew. (Y)

Essential Downloads is the only one that interests me.
The recent posts thing isnt a bad idea, but the different forums are already sorted that way, anyway and thats what i use to check whats happening.

I like them both too--although i go staright to the forums anyway. But for a newbie to the site--i think it's a good resource.

I voted for only essential downloads. I think most people who visit here don't go through the main page and just have the forums under favourites (like me.) The only purpose recent topics seems to serve is that people are more likely to join the forums, and people who would want to give worthwhile posts would probably find the forums link and ultimitley this would just attract more old school fool's IMO.

I voted for essential downloads, but how do you determine what is essential and what is not.

Are you also changing the site design/ layout?
I think you should make the main page to match the forum a little more, eg. colour schemes
