Football (Soccer) help

Sun Nov 25, 2012 2:37 am

Hey guys, I've been thinking about trying to get better in a sport other than basketball; football. I love to watch it, and have played it before, just do not have that good of polished skills (cannot juggle, bad touch, etc)

I have the speed for the position I play (Right Back) however have to get better at those skills before I can do anything else. I have until next August to then try out for the school football team (did not do it this year).

Any drills/experiences that can help me? Thanks in advance

Sup Houndy,

I don't think juggling a ball will make you a good player, controlling it on the ground will.

Try to practice passes at first, if you don't have a training buddy, find a flat vertical surface (hint. wall, preferably concrete) and mark an half circle from the ground, just big enough for the ball to fit in, then try hitting that spot everyday for a couple of hours. (in a month you will probably get very good at it).
Do the same for goal shots. But instead of a wall try finding a real soccer gate and don't aim to score a goal but rather aim to hit the crossbar. Try this with different shots type (banana kick, straight kick, power kick etc)

For a good touch you need a partner to pass you the balls while you are running and you need to touch the ball in such a way that it won't hinder your movement or slow you down too much.

Have fun, I hope you will do well!
