setup 3 monitors on a Nvidia card?

Postby chicagoRAW on Sun Sep 16, 2012 8:21 am

Has anyone been able to do this successfully?

I have a gtx570 and "there is a architectural limitation in place on the GTX 570 that will not allow it to host 3 monitors without a second card."

I'm not trying to do it for gaming purposes where the game's stretched out across 3 monitors. I just want to be able to extend my desktop to the 3rd monitor. From some quick research it said a second card which doesn't have to be the exact same one that I have is all that is needed.

So i'd get this : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6814130813

would I be able to extend the desktop to the 3rd monitor?

Also has anyone tried a usb to hdmi adapter? does it work good?

Well looking at some stuff on the internet, you can get that card for use with your other monitor. But do you have onboard graphics by any chance? Using onboard graphics might be a cheaper way.

The "architectural limitation" is that it only has two DVI ports.

Yes, adding a card with another port will let you extend. You'll want to make sure your primary monitor is on the 570 so the crappier card doesn't try to run the games.
