New York City

Postby Doobie on Fri Apr 13, 2012 11:48 am

Hey all! How many of you have been to New York City and what are your opions of it? I am becoming obsessed wih the city, and spend more time over their then I do back in NJ (which really isn't that much of a difference I live about 5 minutes from New York regardless.) Part of me would like to move there at some point in my life, but the other part thinks it is more of a place to visit then to live. I was born their and lived their as a child but every time I go I feel like it's my first time. So what are your thoughts on the greatest city on earth?

Yeah obviously I'd need to have a career job, things are expensive enough as it is across the river, a 1 bedroom apartment goes for about 1000$ a month rent with no utilities.

I only went there once about 13-14 years ago, as a tourist. Crazy city, and I can understand the fascination for it, but it's personally not my cup of tea. And yeah, it was already pretty bad back then, I have no reason to believe that the pricing situation got any better there. Not really worth it in my opinion, but if you get a badass job, by all means.

I had a very quick visit there for the NBA Live 08 Community Event in 2007, which included a bit of sightseeing, some shopping at the NBA Store and of course the opportunity to attend the Draft. Amazing place, I'd love to get back there one day for a proper vacation, though the few days I spent there for the event were still awesome.

hate it, but then again, I live in a village of a few hundred.

been multiple times, enjoyed myself but I've always had more fun in Boston, suck it, but the wife wants to make her first trip to NYC sometime so I will have to stock up on some fresh air and get some vaccinations before I enter that city or state by the same name.
Opinions are my own.

My favorite city in the world and it does live up to the hype!

So much to do so many places to eat and so much sport in the city, cant wait to go back!

And if you go in the summer dont overlook Central Park, we were there during a heatwave and only spent the last day there.

Personally i think EA owes everyone who bought nba live in the last few years a free trip to NYC.

But in all fairness ive being around this site nearly 10 years and in nba lives glory days no one deserved to go to the big apple with EA picking up the bill more than Andrew did.

A Bulls fan, pretending to be a Knicks fan? A great way to cover one's tracks I suppose, but still, unthinkable!

Saw all the sights, went to a Broadway show, just an amazing 2.5 weeks. (Also went to Washington and the Niagara Falls).

Couldn't walk near Times Square without being stopped with someone offering me a rap-cd. I guess at 6'6, I stood out from the crowd. With my Miami Heat tee on, even got asked if I played for the Heat, didn't matter they had a game in Boston the same night.

Really wish I could have spent 2 1/2 weeks in NYC when I went. It's an amazing city, but I could only spend 2-3 days there. I'd love to go back.

That being said, I'd never want to actually live there.

Because NBA players wear their jerseys everywhere in their day-to-day lives.

Sounds like an awesome vacation. (Y)

It was their warm-up tee, with Miami Heat Basketball on it. And it seemed quite genuine, as the guy started talking about how his son will go their camp this summer, looked like he wanted some information from me.

Even so, I doubt there are too many players that go everywhere decked out in team apparel.

Didnt' Rasheed Wallace show up to a game wearing his own jersey? It was while he was with Pistons if I remember correctly, it was the last season before Stern made that dress code rule.
