RIP Harry Morgan

I'm guessing most folks around these parts won't have a great deal of interest in this, but actor Harry Morgan has passed away aged 96. I knew him from M*A*S*H in his role as Colonel Potter from Season 4 onwards, including an earlier guest appearance as a visiting general, but his other most famous role was that of Bill Gannon on Dragnet. If you're a Simpsons fan, he reprised the latter role in "Mother Simpson" alongside partner Joe Friday (voiced by Harry Shearer rather than the late Jack Webb), trying to track down Mona Simpson.

Still, it was his work on M*A*S*H that resonates most with me, so I was sure to catch a couple of episodes on Foxtel this evening. I thought he was going to reach 100 but at 96, that's a pretty good innings. RIP.

It's one of those shows I can watch over and over again. I own the entire series on DVD but I'll also catch the repeats on Foxtel when I'm taking it easy of an evening.
