How many of you guys cook?

Thu Mar 31, 2011 3:22 am

Simple question. How many of you guys can cook? I personally feel like I make pretty good breakfast. Scrambled eggs/ omellete's/ sausage/ french toast... Also, I love grilling things in the summer time. I can't cook rice or anything like that though.

lol, all you listed can be easily done or as I call it 'easy cooking'.
I can make french toast using just one hand, same with scrambled eggs, and sausage. Omelletes require a little presentation, so two hands.
Grilling? Shiiite son! What's next, you're gonna tell us that you can cook a badass boiled egg?
You FAIL for not knowing how to cook rice or anything like that. I don't even use a rice cooker (may be a given since I'm azn).
Come back to this thread when you know how to cook like a man.

I've lived on my own for most of my adult life so I can cook. How can you not cook rice? You just put it in the water and it does the job for you

Occasionally I cook, but nothing special. I hate making salads tho'.

Everytime I cook rice it comes out tasting nasty. Either to salty or burnt. I mean I can cook ground beef and I can bake cookies and cake if I have a cookbook with me.

I can but don't, Kathryn kicks my ass at cooking so why would I try to get better? It took me a few minutes to find my manhood after I found out she can out-grill me, but for food that tastes that good, I'll just be the dish bitch and like it.

I'm a fry guy, that is all.

Agreed. But I don't use them rice cookers. Though once we had non-stick kitchen ware so cleaning was easier back then. They do get scratched overtime though.

We used to have one but I don't know, it never really came out with the right texture, so we give it away.

I can cook pretty good according to my wife, like most French people. I get inspired to make something fancy every once in a while, but most of the time I'm lazy and I don't feel like I have the ingredients that I need to make something that's worth the "effort".

did you have a cheap one or a fancy one? the rice doesn't look as good coming out of a cheaper one (usually smaller, with a lid that's clear and comes completely off). the bigger nicer ones with the lid that opens on a hinge usually make better looking rice. maybe you put too much/too little water, although that's pretty hard to mess up. you just fill the water to the line that matches the # of cups of rice you're cooking

that's what happens when you use spoons to scoop out the rice and not one of those plastic rice scoopers Image

I can cook whenever my family needs me but I don't most of the time. I've learned how to make Spanish/ Hispanic foods which are relatively easy as fuck. I bet any of you can make anything I eat. I can cook rice, beans, plantains, meats(grilled, fried, you name it), flan/cheesecake deserts(only ones I know), simple breakfast stuff ,and I am currently learning to cook Italian foods and French too. If anyone here is good at cooking these foods please give tips and good recipes.

nope, none at all.

i cook a lot, my grandma thinks its weird... she's not used to men in the kitchen.
I'm only good at following recipes though, i can follow any recipe at all, but I dont invent my own shit

I can, and still be able to cook rice (if there's rice, water, cooking pot, and a stove).
Cleanup? Hard? Fill the empty rice container full with water. Leave it for 15 minutes. Go play games, read, watch tv, go sexor someone, or wash the other dishes while waiting. Get back to it then clean it.

I cook too being alone and all, after a while take out gets on your nerves and there's only so much fried stuff a person can eat. (Excluding Lean apparently.)

I have a rice cooker, my diet while working out usually consists of chicken/breast meat and brown rice & veggies. They have a lot of spices and stuff which are easy to use/marinate so it's not that big of a deal.

I can't even make rice or a tea, for the matter.

I can make sandwiches, though.

Ham & cheese between two slices of bread -- that's my thing.

i really dont understand people who cant cook and are then proud of it...
too retarded to read a recipe? whats the deal?

Re: How many of you guys cook?

You don't even need to follow or have a recipe to be able to cook, that's just a crutch for people who can't learn basic concepts. Things like fire make things hot, smaller things get hot faster, liquids and fats can be your friends, type of fire changes textures, add the spices and make sure to eat your pre-dinner mayonnaise* and you're good to go and cook billions of things off of these simple concepts.

I mean you hit up craft services, grab some veggies, a potato, some stock, baby you've got a soup goin'.

*It's good for you.

I'm not really "proud", I'd like to learn some cooking skills in the future. But right now, I suck. :P

Same. I basically know how to make spaghetti and pancakes. That's it.

im gonna have to call bs on this one here.
if your idea of a recipe is something telling you to turn the over on and put in a chicken breast, then fair enough. but recipes for proper meals go further than basic concepts... knowing what spices/herbs go with what is more than basic
