I'm going to go ahead and start a Madden Franchise. I used to do 2k Associations on here back when the Associations were still in the "Video Games Stories" section. The site has changed a lot and it looks nice. I will update this as much as possible, but due to the fact that I'm in the Army it won't be something updated daily most likely. I love to write and this just gives me another outlet to do so. I simulated the 2010-2011 season and will be starting my dynasty from the Front Office part of the Off-Season. I will post the Season review of the 2010-2011 simulated season. Then I will follow that up with San Francisco 49er's season review. If I have followers that's nice, but one way or another I'm just doing this so I can write that much more.

Written By SF 49ers Beat Writer Casey LeeThe San Francisco 49ers Season was anything, but pretty. In a season which seemed to be filled with negatives, I tried to dig up some positives. Jed York ran the team for the season and appears ready to hire a new General Manager. York has announced nationally that he is looking to have someone step in as the new General Manager of the 49ers. He re-iterated that his tenure during this season was temporary and that he plans on returning to his CEO spot and letting the "Professionals" do their job. Whoever decides to step up and take this job will have a lot of work to do this off-season. Or will they? These are my five "points to make" on the 49ers' season. After you hear some of these you might catch yourself thinking, "They just need ____ and they could make the playoffs."
1) Quarterback Anyone?
The 49ers Quarterback troubles is very obvious. San Francisco went through three different quarterbacks this year and none of them were injured. This means they were all benched because of their lack of ability at the position. Alex Smith was named the starter prior to the season and was said to have the job in his hands. Coach Mike Singletary stated, "It is his job to lose," and lose it did he. A. Smith was benched after San Francisco got off to a 2-4 start. The team was only one game back at this point in the season. Coach Singletary on the subject of benching A. Smith, "Right now we are only one game back, but we feel we can gain on our opponents if we put another quarterback in."
Alex Smith's stats in 6 Games - 92/181 (50%) - 876yds - 5TD 9INT - 53.1 rating
Next up was Troy Smith and no disrespect to Troy, but did Singletary really expect to be better with an inexperienced quarterback? The team kept up their losing ways and Troy Smith's record as the starter was 2-4-1 bringing the 49ers season record to 4-8-1. Troy was a tie better than Alex, nut he trumped Alex throwing six more interceptions than him.
Troy Smith's stats in 7 games - 110/218 (50%) - 1190yds - 4TD 17INT - 40.5 rating
Since the Smith boys could not get it done, San Francisco turned it to wonder boy and former Texans quarterback David Carr. This was merely to see how he would perform because they were probably wondering what to do with him after the season. He went 1-2 and the 49ers finished with the third worst record in the NFL at 5-10-1.
David Carr's stats in 3 games - 43-100 (43%) - 480yds - 3TD 3INT - 55.4 rating
Combined the San Francisco quarterbacks combined to throw 29 interceptions which was the second most in the NFL.
2) Whose their trainer? The School Nurse?
I think some mothers want to know who is taking care of their boys. The 49ers hit destroyed by injury this year. Every week they had at least five players sitting out. Their were those one to three week injuries that plagued every team in the NFL, but it seemed to really hit San Francisco hard. The long term injuries hit too, in particularly to the offensive line. They had to play without three of their starting offensive lineman for 4 weeks. Starting rookie LG Mike Iupati missed the entire season with a Torn Rotator Cuff. Then in week 1 starting RT Barry Sims and RE Justin Smith went down. Sims for eight weeks and Smith for 11 weeks. To add insult to injury, starting C Eric Heitmann went down in week three and was out for seven weeks. Maybe that is why the 49ers had the third most sacks allowed in the NFL with a whopping 56.
3) The Mighty Hammer of GORE.
Okay so the 49ers were 30th in the league in total offense and 32nd in the league in passing, but they were 5th in the league in rushing. The team rushed for 2,014 yards on the season and 1,289 of those belonged to Frank Gore. Gore not only stayed healthy all season long, but he also was seventh in the league in rushing. How in the world he averaged 4.3 yards a carry when the team can't pass is beyond me, but give credit where credit is due.
4) Singletary's skill are rubbing off.
Some people think that Singletary can't coach, but there is one thing he might be doing and that is rubbing off on defensive captain and starting middle linebacker Patrick Willis. Willis was sixth in the league with 105 tackles. He keeps on making plays and leads a better than average defense. The defense might have been 18th in the league in Passing yards, but that was their only flaw. They were the fifth best team giving up only 1,391 yards on the ground all year. They gave up only 292 points all years long which was sixth best in the NFL. That averages out to about 18.3 points per game. They were the third best team defensively in the red zone only letting their team score 80% of the time they were in the red zone. That's pretty amazing, remember the red zone is only 20 yards away from the ENDZONE. Oh and let's not forget the 49er's lone probowler, CB Nate Clements who was tied the second most interception in the league with six.
5) The Wild West?....More like the "What the !#@$" West.
I think the NFC West did their part in the home field advantage talks. Many people believe that the teams with the best records should get home field advantage and not the division winners. Why people might ask? Ask the Minnesota Vikings who were 9-7 and had to go to Seattle to play the 7-9 Seahawks in the playoffs. Sure the Vikings won, but they were played a better season and deserved to host a home game much more than the Seahawks did. The Seahawks winning the west at 7-9 is a good thing for us San Francisco people though. We were only 1.5 games out of 1st place. Which means if the 49ers just improve in some spots here and there they could make the playoffs. If the offensive line stayed healthy maybe the quarterbacks would have had more time to make something happen and wouldn't have all been benched. In my eyes the 49ers need help in the secondary and a new quarterback. After they fix those holes, this team could very well be on their way to an NFC West championship...not that that's a big feat or anything.

Written By SF 49ers Beat Writer Casey LeeSteve Young is the new GM of the San Francisco 49ers
Everyone in the football world has been waiting to see who the 49ers would choose as their new general manager. Jed York finally made the announcement today that former 49er and Hall of Fame quarterback Steve Young will be making the decisions in San Francisco. Steve Young appeared very excited during the press conference and looks to try and turn around the 49ers misfortunes. Many people were trying to figure out if Young showed up with true or false motivation. Young's first statement as the 49ers GM was, "I am excited to be here and look forward to making some moves this off-season that will help bring home the NFC West title back to San Francisco."
Many people might view this as Young just trying to be optimistic and show the fans he is here to try, but Young continued throughout the press conference to show he is a firm believer in the fact that the 49ers are very capable of making the playoffs. Young continued to state, "This team has a few holes in it yes, but I think we can fill those holes and make this team an immediate contender."Young's first move? Keeping Coach Mike Singletary as their Head Coach.
Young was asked right away about Coach Mike Singletary's status as the Head Coach. Young replied with, "He still has three years remaining on his contract, I didn't even know there was any discussions about him leaving. In all seriousness though, Mike (Singletary) has done a great job in building this defense into one of the better defenses in the league. He is a very passionate coach who wants to see his team succeed. I look forward to watching him at the helm next year, so that is a yes, he will be back as the Head Coach next year."
Many people believe now Singletary is returning, that means that Alex Smith and Troy Smith are out. Singletary had on-field arguments with both Alex and Troy. Both quarterbacks put up numbers not even worthy of a backup. The contracts of both Alex and Troy are up this year and it does not appear as though the 49ers have any intentions on bringing either of them back. Now the question is will the 49ers use their third pick in the draft to pick a new franchise quarterback or will they go with a veteran quarterback in hopes of him getting them deep into the playoffs.

Written By SF 49ers Beat Writer Casey LeeYoung wastes now time, Turner is new Offensive Coordinator.
Steve Young hasn't even been the General Manager for a week now and he already brought in a new offensive coordinator. Steve Young announced today that Norv Turner will take over the play calling duties for the San Francisco 49ers. Turner has been the head coach of the Chargers from 2007-2011, but the Chargers decided to let him go after he couldn't pull through with any post season success. In 2006, Turner was the offensive coordinator for the San Francisco 49ers and helped lead them to a finish as one of the league's top 10 offenses. Turner turned the Chargers into a high octane offense the previous four season and hopes to do the same in San Francisco. Turner's area of expertise is the quarterback position, which happens to be the biggest issue in San Francisco. Now with the coaching staff locked in Steve Young can put his main focus on getting players to fill in the blanks. Steve Young appears to be very excited about the coaching staff saying this after the announcement, "I have Norv Turner in charge of my offense and Mike Singletary in charge of my defense. I feel like the luckiest General Manager in the league, all I need now is Tom Brady to come on over to the 49ers." Jokes aside, Young is in a big hunt right now for a new quarterback. Many fans are wondering who young is going to go after and us experts are looking forward to seeing what magic he can produce.
