New Year's Eve 2010

Postby Andrew on Fri Dec 31, 2010 12:46 am

The end of another year is almost upon us. Any plans for new year's? Any interesting new year's resolutions you care to share?

A group of my friends will be meeting up at our friends' place for a couple of drinks, then we'll all walk a few blocks up to where a couple of our other friends live for a bigger party with a bunch of our other friends. I'm planning on driving home in the morning so I won't be having a huge night, I picked up a six pack today and I'll probably just drink that over the course of the evening. We're also suiting up for the occasion, since the friends hosting the big party are keen on themes. Aside from that it's nothing fancy though, just ringing in the new year with good friends.

the only "tradition" we've had is watching that Red Bull thing at midnight...but the guy doing it this year got hurt so I guess it's not happening.

Probably just hang back and do nothing overly special.
Opinions are my own.

Gonna meet up with some friends and get wasted, like every year we're gonna go on the highest hill that's around to watch the fireworks.

I think we should sticky the "Post here when you're drunk thread" for the next 48 hours.

One six pack? I had one of those watching the Bucks/Bulls game the other day, weak effort imo. Don't let anyone in Newcastle know they'll expel you from the town.

As for me, all of my friends are either in Thailand or doing the family thing so I have fuck all to do. New Years is my favourite holiday too so I'll just get drunk alone in a dark room and cry myself to sleep or something

Drink with friends at my place, out to watch fireworks at midnight and then seek further partying possibilities.

I know, it's un-Australian as much as it's un-Novocastrian, but I'm kind of over big nights and as such I'm looking to cut back a bit.

I was going to start a New Years thread but Andrew beat me to it.

2010

- Started dating my beautiful girlfriend (Y)
- I cut my alcohol consumption by a lot, which I am quite proud of. I only drink on special occasions and it's good for my health as well as my wallet. :) Not to mention that being stupid with alcohol nearly cost me my job.
- Fast tracked my degree by doing extra subjects. It's been a good year academically.
- Had my best stretch of basketball in the second half of the last season. It was sparked by a 36 point game, followed by a long buzzer beating three pointer to tie a game in the next game. That tie turned out to help keep us in the Top 4 and in the playoffs. In the playoff game we lost by 2 points but I was able to keep the team in it by hitting 5 triples and leading the team in scoring. Even though we lost and I was pretty gutted for weeks, it was a great season as it was the first one where we played competition at our level.
- And the Lakers won back-to-back :)

2011

- Finish my degree - hopefully end of 2011 but I need to overload on subjects again.
- Find a job in criminal law. Originally I wanted to be a public defender but now am leaning towards public prosecutor - all hinges on whether I can make the right contacts
- Start running again. I hit the gym 2-3 years ago and now weight 75kg. I want to get back to 67-68kg so that I can be at my playing weight from when I was 18/19.
- Make my university team. I will be working on my game over Jan/Feb and attend tryouts. If I can improve my endurance and speed, I think I have a shot at one of the 'lower level' high divisions.
- I have no control over this but Lakers winning three in a row!

Pretty simplistic I guess. Looking back on 2010, it was an awesome year. :) Hope it was for you guys as well!

Completely broke here, so I don't think we'll go out or anything. I do have quite a lot of booze at home home, so I guess it'll be a fairly quiet evening by ourselves with lots of liquor and a good cigar to celebrate the new year.

I'll be getting drunk at my mate's place... nothing overly grand but it should be fun none the less. As for New Years resolutions:

-Travel more
-Earn my trade
-Improve my jumpshot (sorry, GET a jumpshot)

...I can't think of anything else at this moment of time.

I'll spend more time with my girl rather than WWE Universe and NBA 2k11.

Probably gonna quit smoking full time.

Happy 2011 everyone!

There was a fitting sunset for the end of 2010 though. (Picture doesn't do it justice)

With family as usual.

As of my plans:
-Get ready for next years exams
-Improve my all around playing style
-Getting on a better shape(I mean more strength mostly, cause I have great stamina as of now)

My top goal for next year:
-Get a transfer to a Greek Top Tier Division team.Hopefully I can play on the 2nd or even 1st Division(Though the second is veeeeeery ambitious plan)My current local-championship team sucks... I will need to work really hard to achieve this though, but it will keep me motivated!

Happy 2011 for those who entered the year already!I have to wait 11 hours more

2010 was interesting. Left my job to help take care of my fiancee's father. Moved up to this area permanently.

2011 sees me getting married, back to school in pursuit of a better degree, back to the workforce in some way or another....and possibly into major house renovation depending on if her dad refinances.
Opinions are my own.

2010 blows for me. All the years the Lakers won championships, 200-2002 & 2009-2010, they always blow. Coincidence? I think not! Must kill Kobe...

2010 was great, but 2011 hopes to be better.

In 2011, I hope to ask out this girl I like, do good on exams, and learn the 4 positions I have to play (everything but Center)
