Calling all Photoshopists!

Hey guys,

Gee its been a while since I posted on this forum! Hope all is well!

Basically I'm here because my local basketball team, the Horsham Hornets, has decided we need to purchase new uniforms (the current ones have been around for ~8 years) and thought this might be the place to see if someone can help us out with designing new ones! I have attached pictures of our current uniform (best pic I could find) and our current team logo. We want to keep the same colours (royal blue, red and white) but would prefer a complete redesign of the uniform itself. We could also look into changing our logo if someone was prepared to design a new one.

So if anyone out there would like to give it a crack please reply here or send me a PM and we can work something out . We may also be able to offer payment if that was preferred.

Good thing the logo isn't used by the Hornets anymore. If I were on their legal department I would sue all of your infringing asses.

you'd be surprised at how many high schools in the US use logos of professional teams but change the colors. i don't know if they can be sued since maybe it isn't used for profit but i really don't know the legality of it all. i have to ask my friend in law school. i have a friend that went to a high school that used the SEattle Seahawks logo but with different colors.

and Fitzy what kind of blue do you guys want to use? the blue in the logo or the blue on the jersey?

My money is that the teams can sue but they choose not to. It gives their logo to be more familiar to a younger demographic. Since the logo is usually synonymous with the team, the team somewhat becomes familiar to those HS students. Free promotion.
Still, if I were in any pro team's legal department, I would have no mercy suing any HS team's ass.

yeah i remember a case of this political team using the columbus blue jackets logo but flipped it or something and they got sued. i don't think a pro team has enough time or resources to sue every HS team in the country that uses their logos. i would imagine the Philadelphia Eagles and the Chicago Bears are a popular choice. come to think of it, in middle school, there are local football teams not associated with the schools that used NFL logos. my city was the Steelers (and used the exact logo) and the next city over were the Titans ( i think they changed it to a green color scheme)

I doubt small teams (HS, community) would pay licensing fees, even a small amount, for the right to use altered pro team logos when they can make one themselves.
Must be that 'fair use' then. Community/HS teams can say that the formation of their local team/league promote/educate the importance of sports. God bless you Americans.
