KANSAS CITY CHIEFS (3-1) at HOUSTON TEXANS (4-1) SUN OCT 17 - 1:00 PM
Injury Report: LB Cameron Sheffield (Pinched Nerve)
• The Chiefs are coming into this game following a narrow loss to the Indianapolis Colts. The Chiefs used that game as a measuring stick of how "good" they are. Now they face another up-and-coming team in the Houston Texans who have reeled off four straight after losing 21-35 in the season-opener to the same team, the Indianapolis Colts. However, the talk of the Chiefs 3-1 season so far has been the resurgence of the defense under defensive coordinator Romeo Crennel. The Chiefs are allowing just 275 yards per game (67 against the run) and are conceding just 16.2 points per game. The Texans are scoring 25.0 points per game and quarterback Matt Schaub has thrown for a league second best 103.5 quarterback rating. It's an interesting matchup that should be fun to watch come game time.
• The Chiefs should be able to run all over the Houston Texans today and they have the credentials to get it done. Running back Jamaal Charles as carried the ball for an average of 7.7 yards per gain and has run in 4 touchdowns this season in the first four games. Thomas Jones hasn't done that bad either averaging 5.4 yards per carry himself. If the Chiefs rush for over 150 yards and at least Charles rushes for 120 yards, the Chiefs will likely come out with the win. The Texans defense is allowing 102.1 yards per game against the run.
Injury Report: LT Rashard Butler (High Ankle Sprain), LB Brian Cushing (Strained Bicep), CB Antwaun Molden (Sprained Ankle), RB Ben Tate (Broken Ankle)
• Matt Schaub could have a field day against the Kansas City Chiefs this weekend. The Chiefs allowed Peyton Manning to throw for over 250 yards in the 27-20 loss. Although the Chiefs are allowing just 208 passing yards per game, Andre Johnson matches up well against Brandon Flowers and if the Texans can get the run game going it could be hard to stop a offense which the Chiefs haven't face yet, they have only faced one dimensional teams so far and this could be what they call a "trap" game for the defense.
• The Texans will need to protect Matt Schaub better this weekend. Schaub has been sacked 17 times in five games (3.4 spg) and the Chiefs are coming in and are most likely going to blitz non-stop to throw Schaub off his routine and timing. The Texans need to be careful of outside linebacker Tama Hali who has racked up 4 sacks in the first four games of the season. If the Texans manage to overpower the Chiefs front seven, they will most likely have enough time to make a few nice plays against the Chiefs secondary.
Prediction: I'm taking the Texans, 20-10.

JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS (1-5) at KANSAS CITY CHIEFS (3-2) SUN OCT 24 - 1:00 PM
Injury Report: SS Gerald Alexander (Wind knocked out), QB Trent Edwards (Wind Knocked out), LB Freddie Keiaho (Severe Concussion), C Uchi Nwaneri (Foot Fracture), DT D'Anthony Smith (Strained Achillies), LB Bryan Smith (Complete ACL Tear)
• After beating the Broncos in the season-opener, the Jaguars have suffered five straight losses, they did have to face the Chargers, Eagles, Colts in consecutive weeks and then play the 5-1 Titans two weeks after, the Jaguars are one of those teams that look like a decent team but due to their schedule, they have not managed to win games, they have scored less than 10 points in two of their last four games and are coming to the Arrowhead stadium where the rejuvenated defense is guiding the Chiefs to wins. If the Jaguars lose today, you can kiss goodbye the pre-season playoff aspirations the franchise had before the start of this season.
• The Jaguars offense is still dangerous, Maurice Jones-Drew has rushed for 544 yards so far and is averaging 4.9 yards per carry, the only problem is that he has found the endzone just once and that is forcing the Jaguars into a one dimensional team, they can't distribute the ball well good through the air so the matchup against the Chiefs defense is bad for Jacksonville. The Jaguars will need at least a 100 yard effort from Maurice Jones-Drew if they want any hope in defeating the upstart Chiefs.
Injury Report: LB Cameron Sheffield (Pinched Nerve)
• The Chiefs defense is ranked #4 in the NFL in allowing points (16.3) per game, the Chiefs showed they can stop the best receiver in the game with relatively unknown defensive backs and can rock the ball out whenver they want to. The Chiefs are ranked #2 in the NFL in rushing the ball, racking up 148.5 yards per game. If Jamaal Charles has another big game, the Chiefs will most likely end up with the win, this game is important for the Chiefs as they can improve to 4-2 and hold of the division even more if San Diego lose.
• The Chiefs have the 31st ranked offense when it comes to converting third downs, they convert just 31% of their opportunities and will need to improve this if they want to end the season with a winning record, this year's schedule isn't too hard for the Chiefs, but converting the third downs can keep them in and win games.
Prediction: I'm taking the Chiefs, 24-10.

The Kansas City Chiefs announced this morning around 6:20 ET that they had finalized an agreement to extend running back Jamaal Charles contract to five years.
Charles has rushed for 274 yards in the past two games and has already rushed for 638 yards this season. He is averaging 6.7 yards per carry and is fast becoming one of the best NFL running backs.
The Chiefs also announced that they had signed free agent right tackle Adrian Joens to a 1 year deal worth $1.52m. Jones had previously played for Kansas City between 2007-2008 in which he started 10 games.

BUFFALO BILLS (2-4) at KANSAS CITY CHIEFS (4-2) SUN OCT 31 - 1:00 PM
Injury Report: QB Levi Brown (Wind Knocked Out), SS Jon Corto (Sprained Wrist), WR Marcus Easley (Complete ACL Tear), TE Shawn Nelson (Wind Knocked Out)
• If there is a bright spot from the Buffalo Bills' poor season this year, it's rookie running back C.J. Spiller, who is ranked #5 on the top rushers in the NFL. Spiller has ran for over 571 yards (95.1 yards per game). The only downside is that he has entered the redzone just twice. The Bills haven't had their glory at quarterback either, Ryan Fitzpatrick is averaging 184.5 yards per game and has a 63.4 quarterback rating. Those numbers have spluttered the Bills offense, and today they are going up against the #6 ranked defense which is giving up just 17.1 points per game whilst the Bills are scoring 16.6 points per game.
•The Buffalo Bills will need too restrict and hold Jamaal Charles in check for most of the game if they want to improve to 3-4. Charles is fast becoming one of the best and his past couple of games shows why. The Bills don't have a great run defense and the Chiefs who rushed for over 300 yards in last week's win over Jacksonville, may rock the ball once again with a Charles-Jones combo. The Bills should be prepared and mix up some defensive playcalling to throw the Chiefs off their comfort cushion.
Injury Report: LB Cameron Sheffield (Pinched Nerve)
• The Chiefs avoided a three gaming losing streak when they rallied to beat the Jacksonville Jaguars despite being 21-10 down late in the fourth quarter, the Chiefs have shown this season they can stick with the best, shut out high potent offenses and now have shown they can rally for wins. The Chiefs are a very young side who can learn a lot from today's game, the Chiefs should be able to come away with the win, but nothing is every guaranteed in the NFL. Expect a lot of rushing from Jamaal Charles and Thomas Jones today.
Prediction: I'm taking the Chiefs, 31-7

OAKLAND RAIDERS (2-6) at KANSAS CITY CHIEFS (5-2) SUN NOV 7 - 1:00 PM
Injury Report: LB Cameron Sheffield (Pinched Nerve) LB Jovan Belcher (Broken Elbow)
• One of the most intense rivalries will renwew itself this weekend when the Chiefs challenge the Raiders. The Chiefs are on a good run this season, mostly due to their defense which is allowing just 16.0 points per game (tied 2nd best in the NFL). The Chiefs are just one of three teams to have a winning record against the Oakland Raiders and will try to distance themselves even further in the series record.
• The Chiefs suffered their first major loss of the season last week and it wasn't a loss. Linebacker Javon Belcher broke his elbow and will be placed on the injured reserve list and will be out for the rest of the season, Derrick Johnson who lost his starting position earlier in the season will get another chance to show he can perform at a high standard.
• The Raiders offense is scoring just 17 points a game, so expect this game to be a low scoring affair, Eric Berry leads the Chiefs with 30 tackles and is fast becoming a young mature leader on the defense after being the fifth overall selection in last springs draft. Expect the Chiefs to try and establish the run to set up the pass, the Raiders are allowing 216.1 passing yards per game, the Chiefs are allowing just 195.4 per game.
Injury Report: SS Tyvon Branch (Broken Elbow)
• The Raiders have had a dissapointing start to the season, and a loss here would see them eliminated from the playoffs. The Raiders have been struggling on both sides of the ball this season, the Raiders are especially bad on the offensive side of things scoring just 17 points per game. Darren McFadden hasn't played great, he is averaging 51 yards per game and 3.8 yards per carry but that wont cut it in the NFL.
• Expect the Chiefs to target Micahel Huff in his strong safety position. Huff has recorded a few turnovers this season, but the Chiefs will target their tight end and other big players on the safety. Expect the Chiefs to game somewhere between 120-150 yards on the ground, however, no matter what the teams records are, or who is playing, these games are always intese and tend to be close.
Prediction: I'm taking the Raiders, 14-13

KANSAS CITY CHIEFS (5-3) at DENVER BRONCOS (2-6) SUN NOV 14 - 4:05 PM
Injury Report: LB Cameron Sheffield (Pinched Nerve) LB Jovan Belcher (Broken Elbow)
• The Chiefs are coming off a dissapointing loss to the Oakland Raiders and will try to put that behind them when they face the Broncos, the Chiefs are 4-0 at home whilst they are 1-3 on the road, that is cause for concern and the Chiefs will need to rack up some wins on the road if they want to advance into the post-season.
• The Chiefs are going to run the football all day all over the Denver Broncos who are giving up 118.2 yards per game on the ground, the Chiefs are the #1 ranked rushing unit averaging 166.2 yards per game. If the Jamaal Charles rushes for over 100 yards and Thomas Jones, 50, then the Chiefs will most likely win the game.
Injury Report: LB Elvis Dumervil (Torn Pectoral), RG Chris Kuper (Broken Tailbone), WR Eddie Royal (Torn Bicep)
• The Broncos are not doing well. On the offensive side of the ball they are averaging 245.3 yards per game and are scoring just 13.6 points per game, they face the #2 ranked defense in points allowed (16.0). It's not a good matchup and the Broncos need to pull something together to win the game.
• Eddie Royal's absence with an injury has really crippled the Broncos offense which is averaging 169.5 yards per game through the air, they face the Chiefs who are one of the best teams in the air averaging 183.6 yards per game, the Broncos will need to mix up some play-calling to throw the two rookie safeties off-guard.
Prediction: I'm taking the Chiefs, 27-11

ARIZONA CARDINALS (5-4) at KANSAS CITY CHIEFS (6-3) SUN NOV 21 - 1:00 PM
Injury Report: LG Alan Faneca (Questionable, Pulled Groin), LB O'Brien Schofield (Strained Knee)
• The Arizona Cardinals are sitting on a 5-4 record 11 weeks into the season, even though they offloaded a load of talent in the offseason. They are behind the Seahawks (7-2) at this point and need every win possible. The Cardinals offense has been pretty good this season, they are averaging 245.6 passing yards per game but are rushing for just 67.2 yards per game, they need to avoid being forced into a one dimensional unit by the #1 ranked scoring defense in the Kansas City Chiefs.
• Tim Hightower has been the talk of the Arizona Cardinals defense, Hightower has rushed for 580 yards (64.4 ypg) and has reached the endzone five times. He has fumbled the ball three times, the Chiefs like to force the fumble so that should be an interesting matchup, the most, however should be the Secondary vs Derek Anderson. Anderson has recorded a 81.2 rating throughout the season but has thrown for 2454 yards so far, he completes just 57% of his passes and he is going up against one of the best secondaries in the league this season.
Injury Report: LB Cameron Sheffield (Pinched Nerve) LB Jovan Belcher (Broken Elbow)
• Boom, here come the Chiefs. Led by a leagues best rushing attack and scoring defense, the Chiefs are sitting a top of their divison with a 6-3 record and 2 and a half game lead. Matt Cassel is game managing pretty well this season, although Cassel has recorded a 83.5 rating, he has thrown 12 touchdowns and just 6 interceptions for 1507 yards. Watch out for the defense, defensive end Tyson Jackson has recorded 7 sacks and Derrick Johnson racked up over 10 tackles last weekend against the Broncos.
• The Chiefs are anchored by their rushing attack, Jamaal Charles has rushed for 883 yards and 5 touchdowns and is averaging 5.8 yards per carry, Thomas Jones has rushed for 438 yards, 1 touchdown and is averaging 5.5 yards per carry, the Cardinals will need to shut down the run game if they want to defeat the Chiefs this weekend.
Prediction: I'm taking the Chiefs, 21-17

KANSAS CITY CHIEFS (7-3) at SEATTLE SEAHAWKS (7-3) SUN NOV 28 - 4:05 PM
Injury Report: LB Cameron Sheffield (Pinched Nerve) LB Jovan Belcher (Broken Elbow)
• There isn't much to pick on against the Chiefs this season, if there is a weakness, it was their run game and the main Seattle back is out. Leon Washington has had to carry the load, and he hasn't done that much rushing for 318 yards, although both have winning records, if the Chiefs defense holds them in check this could get nasty.
• Expect the Chiefs to try and throw the ball, that would be uncharacteristic as they have rather been a rush first team, the Seahawks are allowing 223.0 yards per game through the air whilst the Chiefs are allowing just 188.3 yards. If the Chiefs want to win they will need to restrict the air game of the Seahawks and will need to play some solid defense.
Injury Report: TE Chris Baker (Sprained Elbow), LE Raheem Brock (Probable, Pulled Groin), TE John Carlson (Abdominal Strain), RB Justin Forsett (Dislocated Knee), LB Leroy Hill (Strained Achillies)
• Here come the Seahawks, they have lost the last two straight and will try to make amends by making a statement by beating of the up-start teams of the National Football League in the Kansas City Chiefs. The Seahawks have virtually no tight ends to throw to and are facing the #1 scoring and #3 pass defense in the NFL, it's going to be a hard day for the Seattle Seahawks.
• The Seahawks will need to try to establish the run, the Chiefs are giving up almost 90 yards per game, they allowed Tim Hightower to rush for 110 yards on 17 carries last weekend and will try to establish the same feat with a smaller but quicker back in Leon Washington. Expect this game to be a low scoring affair, but with the Seahawks nursing some key injuries, expect the Chiefs to take this one. The Chiefs this season are 5-0 at home whilst 2-3 on the road this season.
Prediction: I'm taking the Chiefs, 19-10
