does anybody watch Outsourced on NBC? I think it's pretty funny and it's fresh and different plus it helps that there are good-looking women on the show

what's fresh about it? it's the office with more racial jokes.

It's not really like The Office, it's closer to all those workplace comedies that used to exist and went away for some reason. With some added "fish out of water/culture clash" elements.

Yeah, its pretty unfunny.

I really don't know what it is, but I watch this show every week. It's like with a tweak and a half it could be pretty good. But everytime it seems to start to become hilarious it backs off and flees in terror.
It's really great actors saddled with some shit writing.
This could be a really good show. I have no idea why we run around with the side characters so much considering we haven't established the lead yet even.
Who knew you could fuck up fish out of water so easily.

yeah i usually watch outsourced & community on thursdays and they're about the same amount of laughs per episode (since you're a stats guy) but it's interesting to me because the characters and some of the plot details regarding Indian lifestyle are so different from what's out there right now.

I agree, some of the actors are just brilliant, but they need to be restrained by mediocre writing quite often in this show. I still watch it each week though, it's pretty entertaining.

Here's one thing, and I understand why it happens I'm not an idiot despite my constant display on these forums, but they refuse to stay to minor culture shock.
No, it's ALL IN most of the time. They've successfully done some subtle culture shock parts with Todd and that's when I really like the series, when he doesn't get the minor aspects. Either that or he goes wildly in the opposite direction and reverse culture shocks the Indians.
But a lot of the time it's way too much. And the show can't decide if it wants to do WACKY OFFICE CHARACTERS or TODD CAN'T FIGURE OUT THE CULTURE. You can tell they're going hard towards the former as Madhuri, who was never that culture crazy has been pushed aside from early on. Yet they can't even figure this out as characters like Manmeet and Asha work at times as they are somewhat Americanized and thus can bridge the gap. (Although maybe TOO Americanized.) But the show wants to write plots for everyone every week, and sometimes do things that would show up in The Office and other times go hardcore Indian stereotyping.
It might have just been a concept they couldn't take farther though. They get the culture clash, but they'll throw it aside to go full bore into other things. The office they paintballed up might have been a better starting premise in many respects.
Admit that you didn't know the characters as I mentioned them, it's alright, I wikied it. I knew who they were but didn't remember the names.

i watch the show enough to know their names, but i completely agree that it seems like the writers are confused/stuck/trying too hard or whatever it is on the wacky characters & culture shock. i too enjoy the culture shock episodes but when they go off on wacky character episodes, i think the show suffers a bit especially if it involves Gupta (the fat one)
