they can but keep your calves and hamstrings loose, you don't want them to tighten too much, you want to keep the spring in your legs.

ankle weights can be bad for the knees. i suggest using those jumpshoes/jumpsoles.. the ones you see in slam mag

yeh they are very bad for bball players, i was going to get them and asked what weigh i should get 1pd, 1.5 or 2.5 on each leg and they told me that if u want to wear them for max 30 -45 min the most u can have is 1pound on each!!
coz what ius does is when u jump the weight is pulling u down its like trying to jump while ur legs are tided to the ground. in a worse enouph case they can actualy rip ut foot from the leg,
and coz ur muscles are not used to them they need more energy so they get it form other muscles, so what ends up happening is that ur muscles each away each other.

bball players use them for exersice and for special programs, not to play bball, q

they are bad for your knees yeah, ass havasufalls said, when you take em off you feel like you can jump higher, but there is no difference at all. Just get a jumprope or AA3 and start working out

ALL ur exercises needs to be balnced, u cant just do 100 calf raises and stop, if one of ur leg muscles is stronger then the other u will end up with an injury, especialy in ur legs cos all muscles must work together!
