What sports have you played/done?

Mon Aug 23, 2010 4:30 am

Just was wondering what kind of sports have you ever played, even if once.

Here's my list:

Basketball - obvious, started playing at around 8-10, don't remember exactly, started to take it more seriously about 4 years ago
Football (soccer) - Was my primary sport until age of 14, started playing at 7, have played for a pro young sports club for a year (actually even less), but that didn't work out any good. Recently haven't played very often.
Volleyball/Beach volleyball - Prefer beach one much more, but as for 8-9 months it's close to impossible to play it here, play inside as well. Don't take it very seriously, but play quite often.
Badminton - Played for about 3-4 years, participated in some competitions as well. Don't play anymore.
Decathlon - Once a year, 5 years in a row now, finished the final one yesterday, not very good at it, because of lack of technique, power and have almost never done any part of it outside of this competition.
American Football/Rugby (some kind of mix) - Only played once or twice with very basic rules.
Baseball - Same as American Football, but couple more times.
Table Tennis - just randomly have played.
Floorball - Couple times a year.

Of course some cardio related as well:

Running
Cycling
Skiing
Mountain Skiing
Swimming

Nothing else right now comes to mind, maybe later.

Even if once? That's a long list. Leaving out the cardio related ones...

Basketball (8+ years)
Rugby League (2 years)
Rugby Union (1 year)
Soccer (Maybe 10 times)
Netball (1 year at school)
Baseball (Probably 20 times)
Softball (10 times roughly)
Tee-Ball (50+ times)
Golf (2 times)
Gridiron/American Football (1 time... such an easy sport. Play for 30 seconds then have a rest)
Australian Rules Football (1 time and that was enough)
Table Tennis (I have a table tennis table at home, countless times)
Volleyball (3 years)
Field Hockey (Twice)
Tennis (Twice)
Tag Football (Played all the time at school, at football training, basketball training etc)
Cricket (30+ times)
Archery (Twice)
Shot-Put (1 year)
Long Jump (Five times)
High Jump (Five times)
Track/Field (running) (Ten+ times)
Badminton (Did it for PE once, maybe 6 times)
Discus (1 year)
Javelin (Five times)
Tae Kwon-Do (2 years)
Boxing (5 times)
Ballroom dancing (had to do it at school... not sure it's a sport but its not easy)
Handball (not European, the type with the tennis ball) (Countless)
BMX (2 years)
Skateboarding (Once)
Rollerblading (Once)

There's probably more. The number in brackets is the estimated # of times (or period of time) I've done each.

Basketball - 3 years high school, 2 years college
Soccer - 2 years high school
Track & Field - 1 year high school

For fun I play baseball/softball/whiffleball, used to play muggle/smear the queer (whatever you want to call it) as a kid.

Played "football" football once at the beach with a bunch of random people.....never again.

Basketball is a standard for me, still playing even though I have no one to play with.

At college we played a lot of volleyball and wallyball (in a squash court, hitting off the walls legal and encouraged)

I play golf a good bit.

And tennis

Football or soccer (normal and organized street)
Badminton (sometimes with two rackets against two opponents, when lacking a body to play doubles. Still managed to keep up. I rule!)
Cycling
Table Tennis (even played it like squash when the tables were not allowed for use)
Basketball (since I suck, pickup games with friends when a body is needed)
Tag Football
Bowling
Volleyball (required for PE)
Ballroom dancing (PE)
Softball (once)
Billiards and chess if you consider them a sport.

I do none of those currently. I'm Fatoine. :(

Win. If you're talking about the one with the big wooden paddles then I loved playing that game in gym class during high school.

I guess at this point I'm down to play basketball whenever, softball/baseball are always fun, golf is a must when it's a nice day out, american football is always fun too.

Outside that there isn't really much I frequently do.

Must be crazy midwestern shit. I had never heard of it till i went to college and took a racket sports class. Not a fan of pickleball, it was the least conducive to wheelchairs between Badminton, it, and Tennis.

I've never played any sport on a team, I just play sports for fun.

Basketball- started playing a year ago. I've developed a good shooting touch in the year that I've played, and playing soccer for 8 years helps a lot with defense and passing.
Soccer- 8 years. Runs in the family (since we're latinos). Used to play with my friends that live in the neighborhood every day. Ever since I got into basketball I've lost interest, but still have passion for it.
Baseball- I've only played it in PE. I like playing third base, since that's where I get more outs on people. :P
Billiards- I love playing this. Though I'm still trying to master masse, but I'll never get any better than the beginner level.
Volleyball- Played a game with my neighbors once, pretty fun, I don't think I've played it again.
Swimming- Learned to swim a year ago, I still need to develop endurance. (N)
Weight Lifting- I basically do it every day

Basketball's the only sport I played competitively and outside of school. I also did swimming training for years, which was ridiculous because I never swam competitively outside school carnivals and had no interest in doing so, but somehow got roped/pushed into it after I learned to swim.

Other than that: tennis, squash, Aussie Rules, touch footy, grab/hold footy (whatever you want to call it when it's between touch footy and tackle, because the school won't allow tackle), soccer, tee-ball, cricket, playground handball, table tennis, volleyball, pool, archery, bowling, netball, wallclimbing (once at school camp) and probably a couple of others, but those are the first to come to mind. If running/working out counts then that's all I'm doing currently, with occasional trips over to the basketball stadium to shoot around.

I went down the list and that was the only one I couldn't think of some sort of contraption that would've allowed you to do it

I'm just going to include the amount of years I have played competitive sports, either on a club, high school or socially. So this excludes stuff done in PE/Gym class.

Cricket (5 years)
Australian Rules Football (3 years)
Rugby League (3 years)
Rugby Union (3 years)
Club Swimming (2 years)
Indoor Soccer (1 year)
Table Tennis (100 times)
Pool/Snooker (75 times)
Tennis (50 times)
Golf (30 times)
Bowling (15 times)
Squash (5 times)
Outdoor Football/Soccer (3 times)
Ultimate Frisbee (1 time)

Re: What sports have you played/done?

I'm just going to list the sports I actually did competitively in chronological order.

Swimming: For most of my primary school years. Was pretty good too; my only regret is that I was young and had no competitive fire. I really should have raced, coach always told me to come to swimming club but I never did because it clashed with some other co-curricular events I was doing. Then I stopped swimming for 2 years and when I tried to pick it up again, I kept getting bad cramps in my calves whenever I sprinted. :(

Volleyball: I was shit when I started in Grade 8 but by Grade 10, I was jumping pretty high and was actually a lot better. Just wasn't the sport for me because I wasn't tall enough.

Soccer: On and off. Only did it because friends did it. I enjoy having a kick around once and a while but it's a game where I prefer to watch than play. I envy how skillful soccer players are though. I wish I had that talent.

Basketball: Played since Grade 5 but really only properly from Grade 8. Still love it. Pity that I don't have time for it anymore. :(

Tennis: Self-taught in the past 2 years. Got to a stage where I was applying top spin well and could actually serve properly... then I've regressed in the past 12 months because have not picked up a racket in a while!

I'd love to play slam ball one day. (Looks funny but also pretty nasty, should only be played with complete noobs or you might get destroyed)
