video game sim league question

Ok, I have a quick question what is a sim league?

I've googled it and come up with a couple different answers but i want a straight answer becasue I've seen like where you pick players from the past and put them on a team together, but what is a video game sim league? Like on the main page i saw NBA 2k10 sim league like what is it?

it can be 2 things. one where it is a league where you use the game to simulate the games played rather than playing the games online with someone else

or it can be a group of people who are obsessed with playing "sim" basketball and force you to play a certain way online (no lead passing, certain amount of points in the paint allowed, stuff like that)

Most of the time, it's referring to the former.

yeah thats what i figured so you can basically get a game start a dynasty mode with a person controlling it and have them control everything but have people tell them what to do. like starting lineups trades free agents signings all that stuff. i get it now thanks

i check the 2k community site a lot (can you tell?) and there seem to be waves of videos from online games of really basic plays but the uploader is bitching about lead passing, fast break scoring and some other crap...
