its all luck

Other video games, TV shows, movies, general chit-chat...this is an all-purpose off-topic board where you can talk about anything that doesn't have its own dedicated section.

Am I full of it, or is it a good though possibly right?

its all luck

I was thinking with my friend bout shooting, and i thought...
Shooting the ball is a mix of 4 factors.
1) Technique
2) Coordination + determining how hard to throw it
3) Strength ----> not a big one, but can help
4) Luck---> especially "Game Winners"

I thought, when shooting a ball some luck is involved all the time, except maybe on layups. But far away shots. Like for example Robert Horry shots. Explain how he shoots 1/7 and then for last shot he makes and Wins the game? Also it's luck becasue of the perfect timing for someone to make the shot at the perfect right time to win the game.
Like for example, clutch is how well a player can perform when fatigued, right?
So guys like T-mac don't do well in 4th Q. But guys like Kobe who are determined to Win do it and give it all they got. So like Reggie Miller shots and Michael Jordan game winner shots, all had alittle luck to do with them, right? I mean all the other factors are there, but why not make that shot some other time, and miss the last shot?
Another thought is Iverson is a very clutch player I'd say, but he has never hit a game winner. Just not the luck for game winners.
how do i make a fancy signature?

I think sometimes there's luck, for example when the ball bounces around a few times and drops or goes off the board when you don't plan it. Otherwise in my opinion it's mainly technique/feel/touch. If you shoot the ball perfectly, follow through and all that, that's just ability not luck. You'll never hear a guy say, "wow that was lucky how I shot the ball with perfect form and swished it" :D Unless ofcourse you think there's luck in getting perfect shooting form/technique and it doesn't happen consistently...

ya, good thought, but I was just thinking thought even with the perfect everything, once the ball is in the air, your not in control, and u just have to hope from there on, becasue when u shoot, doesn't it feel like sometimes that has to go in, but it doesn't? and then sometimes it shouldn't go in, but it does? Maybe it's all a matter of rythm, but I'd say thats luck too.
It's just the whole once the ball is out, your not in control thing that gets me.

very interesting post :) , kinda hard to give an opinion now, im gonna think about that, but i also would like to say that concentration is a big factor i believe, normally when u play u are focused but i have seen a lot of players playing really sloppy and like they are not really interested, it makes a difference imho

not rili...sum just have skills like Kobe..he can hit a clutch shot any time at any day..his clutch skill is so awsome espically for a 25-26 year old....so i think there's no luck in Kobe..but in Horry i think itz luck and little skill..in 2002 he hit a winning three against Sacramento but he couldn't do it this year..so mainly luck on him...and as for Iverson he mainly doesn't take clutch shots..he drives into the lane and hopes to get fouled by sumone..
