My boss commented that I type pretty fast and (mostly) without mistakes. So I took a few typing tests online today and averaged just above 60 wpm which I read is decent.
How fast do ya'll type?
this is worse than kongregate for me right now....just got 80, trying to improve.
Wed May 19, 2010 5:25 am
i got 77 wpm with 5 errors which it says adjusted gives me 75
i think my record on one line is the 130s though.
Wed May 19, 2010 5:41 am
yea, I was telling Kathryn about it and she mentioned when she got tested for a temp agency she was at 120 which I didnt believe, then she just got 97 on this test

This kid in my computer programming class did that typingtest.com thing and, he came up with like 180 wpm!!!
I did it and I got like 45.

http://www.typingtest.com/testdone.asp? ... 0&hits=42685 wpm / 0 error on test instruction on first try...
ain't too shabby i guess

Got 60 wpm, but I usually don't type fast, so I can type without looking at the keyboard.
Wed May 19, 2010 7:24 am
I remember trying similar thing here:
http://play.typeracer.com/As for that test, I got 62, but I usually don't type that fast.
Wed May 19, 2010 7:28 am
I got 109 with one error, but I slowed down toward the end since I had already written two paragraphs or something and was getting bored of it. (Despite it being about tigers.) (Also, I got distracted by the "Chat about Faith" ad and had to backspace a few times since I know when I mess up without having to look.)
Like illini, I can vaporize the one sentence ones.
The weird thing about these is that they're just replication tests, I can type dramatically faster when I write my own thing rather than try to copy text. (Which is why I can destroy the one sentence ones since I read the entire sentence before typing it.

Same.
And knowing that you have to type fast makes you hurry up typing and mess up with the words.
Wed May 19, 2010 9:58 am
I suck big time because I only use 2 fingers to type, so I only got 40.
Wed May 19, 2010 10:48 am
Got 80wpm at 98% accuracy typing up the instructions. I'd agree with benji though, I'm sure I can type faster when it's my own words and not just copying text.
Wed May 19, 2010 12:02 pm
Lean and Benji should be crazy typists. Having won a district keyboarding contest twice in my high school days, I thought I was close to be one of the better ones out there.

Same, except I have gotten really good at that. Got 73.

Absolutely. I also seem to jump the gun on any letters that are typed with the left hand and the spacebar when I mistype. Anything that requires using the shift key also slows me down because I always use the right shift key for some reason.
I remember being a more efficient typer with a different type of keyboard, too.
I got 67 with 94% accuracy on the baseball test, and 68 with 98 accuracy on the tiger test.
Now how about a speed reading test.
Wed May 19, 2010 6:02 pm

Eat it bitches. You are all full of excuses.
Wed May 19, 2010 7:42 pm

Hax!
During my first years using the computer I type with only two fingers. Then later on I used the other fingers
for typing, then it came to me that I memorized where the letters are placed on the keyboard.
Wed May 19, 2010 7:52 pm
I'm old school and more adept at a typewriter. My fingers go at it to the next letter by the sound of the keys being pounded (typewriter) or pressed (keyboard), got used to it that way.
Tried that typing test and always got around the 45-55 wpm range with either of the topics.

Soon enough, we will be able to test that too
Thu May 20, 2010 2:52 am
I used to play typeracer with my friends and my average speed was around 97 wpm with 96% accuracy. My highest speed was 112 something. Will try the test when I have time though.

Speed readers are going to hate Text 2.0 when it keeps fading out the words because it thinks they are skimming.
Sat May 22, 2010 5:32 am
i got only 64 wpm...but then again i have always hated to copy a text by typing, and plus it is in English, and my spelling in english is terrible!....
Mon May 24, 2010 9:16 am
tried two texts, got around the 50 mark. I need to find this in German though, I'm pretty sure it's easier in your native language.
