Polish president, 96 others, dead in plane crash

Including something like half of the Polish goverment, including his wife and

the army chief of staff, the navy chief commander, and heads of the air and land forces. Also killed were the national bank president, deputy foreign minister, army chaplain, head of the National Security Office, deputy parliament speaker, Olympic Committee head, civil rights commissioner and at least two presidential aides and three lawmakers

Tragic.

Saw the news earlier, that's pretty insane. Especially considering that almost everybody in the plane were important state employees (mostly military). Very tragic event for Poland indeed.

It's very weird since it happened near a place where Russians killed alot of Polands in the early years of war.

There have never been as huge tragedy as that plane crash , in Polish, or even entire world's, history. Poland's all in sorrow, could anyone imagine a day when almost all of the most important people in the country die ?! Everyone in Poland (including me) is shocked, I still can't believe it , definietly the biggest tragedy I've ever heard about...

really sad and scary stuff. relating this to sports, a beloved team of a city can go down just like that. They travel countless times a year on airplanes

Yeah but statistically they're much safer than driving a bus or several cars or whatever. Not saying its not sad, certainly is. But its truly rarer than you would think.

I'll have to agree with benji. I think you're missing an event that took place at say, oh, about 70 years ago.

I've meant something else... I was rather thinking about the sort of that tragedy, there have never been that huge tragedy that so many politicians and other important people died in one moment. Now it's a really difficult situation for people in Poland, no one knows what will be next...

You follow the line of succession and then elect new politicians to fill the vacancies.

Terrible stuff, condolences to their families. I suppose it's not the time to point fingers, but sounds like the pilot made a critical error in judgement.

Estonia is shocked too, we had a great relationship with Poland (As it turned out.).
