Guitar Hero 5

Postby Lamrock on Sat Sep 05, 2009 7:09 am

Just got this from Gamefly and I love it. I only have the guitar (the GH2 wired one no less), but I'm having a lot of fun with it. I didn't think the last two Guitar Heros were all that great but I'm getting a lot of enjoyment out of this. Some people don't like the soundtrack, but not being much of a metal/classic rock fan, I'm really enjoying it. Arctic Monkeys, Blur, Pinkerton-era Weezer, Beck, White Stripes, Vampire Weekend, TV On The Radio, the list goes on. Its actually been enjoyable going through the career mode (though it no longer matters, since all songs are unlocked from the start),

If you buy it, yes. Think its a limited time offer though.

If you get it in September you can redeem your ID code on the back of the Manual on some website and then they will ship you Van Halen

I was going to do that with World Tour and Smash Hits exporting, but only 35 of the 85 WT songs and 21 of the 45 SH songs actually export into GH5.

Because of the low exports, there was no need for me to buy it. Most of the songs on there are already in RB or DLC which means if I like them, I already have them in my 400+ song RB2 library or are going to be in Lego RB which will be fully exportable. Nevermind I can save the money from it for Beatles and Rock Band Network songs when it comes out.
Opinions are my own.

You're one post away from 8000!

GH5 has been a pleasant surprise. The last couple have just been essentially track packs but Neversoft did well here, and made by far their best GH game. The objectives add a new element to the career mode (though they seem to completely throw me off usually) and the new modes are pretty fun. It doesn't affect the gameplay, but I really enjoy the venues and the graphics in this one/

Looks like there's some great songs on there, I didn't get Smash Hits but I am tempted to pick this one up.

I hope I have more fun with it than World Tour. I still fun. GH 3 was more fun.

Its way better than World Tour. WT had a shitty vibe, inconsistent soundtrack and for some stupid reason made you play all the songs in sets of 3-6, rather than individually.

I liked World Tour but I was annoyed by that too. I get the thinking behind the concept but it wasn't always practical or desirable to have to play the whole set. And quite frustrating, since that's when my old 360 was starting to develop a few problems. Nothing like a crash when you're on the fifth song of a six song set.

I had no clue that this game was out, yet even in production, until you posted this thread. Guitar Hero games can be fun for about a week, but then they get boring after a while. I was a huge fan of Guitar Hero 3 and played it a lot though.

I think they're the kind of games that are good to play in between others; when you're stuck or a little burned out on another game, pop in Guitar Hero and play a few songs or advance a bit further in Career Mode. That's not to say they can't be played for hours on end, but I find them effective as a way of taking a break from other games when I feel like a change of pace. They're pretty good party games, too.
