FIRE!

Tue Sep 01, 2009 1:16 pm

Does anyone live in Califronia?

There's like fire everywhere
I live in Los Angeles and the air quality is horrible from all that smoke and the current pollution in general

I was hoping this would be like the "Thieves in my house" thread... I'm a bit disappointed. Anyway, I don't live there. We had huge fires a few months back, thankfully everyone's stopped trying to be good samaritans and donating random shit to feel good about themselves.

California Fire 'Burning Out Of Control'

Sounds pretty bad and quite reminiscent of what happened in Victoria earlier this year.

Re: FIRE!

The same happened in Athens the last weekend, also in Peloponesos before 2 years.
It's rumored that the fire hasn't been put accidentaly, but in order to build new illegal houses in places where the govermant ccan't do anything.Bad thing.... :(

Yeah, it's not like like it's usually good to begin with. First thing that stunned me when I arrived there, you can't see shit, that entire county is polluted as fuck.
I think the fire is mainly in Pdub's neck of the woods, you still in one piece mate?

You're one of them huh. How many tampons did you donate to the cause? I hope you felt good about yourself anyway, or at least distracted you from the realization that you're an attention seeking, semi literate internet bad-ass fuckwit with the temper control of a five year old. Go die in a fire (lol).

I didn't even know about the fires on Sunday. I hear a huge roar outside my house after confusing it with my air conditioner coming on until it just got louder, too loud. Turns out it was a DC-10 flying incredibly low near my house. Never seen a plane that low not near an airport. It was turning and I thought there was something wrong with it. It came back around and flew straight over my house. I actually thought it was an air show or something because there were several different planes flying low. I finally caught the news that the mountain was on fire in La Canada-Flintridge, which is just a few miles west of my town.

I live pretty close to one of the fires. 2 days ago I was on a break with a co-worker and we stepped out in the parking lot and the mountainside was on fire. As we were watching it, a huge flame rose up in this one spot. Probably a couple of trees getting ignited.

It's like a volcano, raining ashes all day for the past couple days. The fire has moved north beyond the mountain ridge, and hopes of containing it at this point are pretty lost the last I heard. They are just going to try and save as many people and buildings as possible. There is no wind and they can't contain it. Just imagine if there was wind. It's been a good 15-16 years since it's burned, so there is plenty to burn. I'm surprised it didn't burn earlier in the summer, since it's actually been cooling down a bit the last few weeks. Hopefully this is just the climax of our drought and we will have a nice rainy winter.

It also sucks to have the airconditioning off or on. Off and it's way too hot. On and it just gets smokey. It's not as bad as it was on Sunday. The entire store I work at was smokey.

Sry, but I LOL'D

Man there's like ashes all over my car, and I only went out to Ralphs(supermarket) for like 10 mins
Firefighters here are basically tired already, and the fires here are not even contained
I can even see the fire from a fair distance from my balcony

Have you been to see the fires? They have absolutely destroyed towns up there. Where do you get off abusing anyone who donated to try and help them out? Who the fuck do you think you are

Your bitch rating just went through the roof. I'm assuming you don't know any people in real life, because frankly I'd struggle to understand why anyone would want to talk to you for any length of time, but if you had seen the amount of people I had seen suddenly becoming bleeding hearts and wanting to donate q-tips or moist towels or whatever in a shameless attempt to feel good about themselves (volunteering at call centres was another one), despite the authorities telling them they already had enough stuff then you would change your tune.

Also, nowhere did I say people shouldn't donate. I'm sure they appreciated your pocket money or whatever it was you contributed.

Btw, why did you go to see the fires? Do you think gawking at what is left of peoples homes is helpful to anyone? You should be ashamed. Don't make your sadistic curiosity out to be more than that it was.

No suspicion of arson as yet?

That's fucking crazy.
Hopefully they'll manage to control this before it really gets out of hand.

I drove through the fire damaged area on the sunday coming back from my girlfriends farm in bonny doon.

I really don't understand you. You're upset at people for being too nice? Donating too much?

If you seriously can't understand what I've said from the posts I've made there is little to no point in explaining it, or trying to.

Cop out...

People's motives have nothing to do with what's required to fix up those towns. I cannot believe anyone would be so negative as to abuse people who donated...

It's a cop out that I don't want to repeatedly explain to you the point I was making 17 posts ago? Other people in your life might have the patience to sit with you and go over things a million times until you understand them but I definitely don't.

People's motives have nothing to do with what's required to fix up those towns. I cannot believe anyone would be so negative as to abuse people who donated...

Where's the abuse? Stop making things up. Have you even bothered reading my replies or is this blind rage you apparently get sporadically on the internet making things difficult for you to comprehend? Read my third post in this thread and you'll see how stupid that first sentence of yours sounded.

For someone who only ever posts on this forum to attack people you really are quite sure of yourself here aren't you.

Its hard to find anything of substance in your arguments when most of it is abusing me...

You've been abusing people for donating, calling them shameless and sarcastically, 'good Samaritans', because of what you believe their motives to be. Your whole argument is based around people donating being jerks because of what you believe their motive to be.
What do you mean you haven't been abusing them?
You dont have to sit there and expressly call someone an idiot for it to be abuse.

What's your third post got to do with anything? You abuse me, go off on a rant about how people are donating too much (and how deeply it annoyed you) followed by you hoping they keep donating. All those people trying to help out should be ashamed of themselves, how dare they inconvenience you with such 'shameless attempts' at donations.

This coming from you? If you can't take it don't dish it out. I believe your first reply to me here was "You fucking wanker"... nice to see you have a victim complex, it doesn't surprise me.

You've been abusing people for donating, calling them shameless and sarcastically, 'good Samaritans', because of what you believe their motives to be. Your whole argument is based around people donating being jerks because of what you believe their motive to be.

No, it isn't. And you consider that abuse?? What on Earth do you think your posts towards people here are then? I don't remember the last time you bothered to grace us with your presence and said something that wasn't an attack on some random person.

The argument was that despite having been told that no more supplies were needed (as per my third post that you later cry about) people still went around collecting arbitrary items like tampons (hence my first reply to you) and volunteering to man call centres (when they were already full... I know people who stood around waiting to see if someone would leave early so they could take their spots) .. when you've been told no more donations of that sort are needed, yet still do it anyway YOU ARE DOING IT FOR YOUR OWN SELF SATISFACTION.

What do you mean you haven't been abusing them?
You dont have to sit there and expressly call someone an idiot for it to be abuse.

Right, so abuse will be decided as per your determination of it? You are insane. You haven't been able to show me any abuse at all, I didn't call them names (unless you consider "shameless" name calling :?), I haven't even attacked them. I stated an opinion I have, and you come in like the try-hard internet white knight you obviously are trying to defend the honor of .. well, yourself I'm assuming.

What's your third post got to do with anything? You abuse me, go off on a rant about how people are donating too much (and how deeply it annoyed you) followed by you hoping they keep donating.

You're not really this stupid are you? My third post is relevant because you had said "People's motives have nothing to do with what's required to fix up those towns." and it was in the third post I clarified "despite the authorities telling them they already had enough stuff"...

It's becoming pretty clear to me why when you do come here you just randomly insult someone and leave, because you can't even remotely hold your own in any sort of debate or argument. I love the fact that someone who's only known here for being a prick to people has the nerve to turn around and get hyper sensitive about insults, or the interpretation of insults towards others. You're a hypocrite.

Fair enough. I just wondered as there's usually that suspicion here in Australia, owing to the fact that bushfires have been known to have a little help getting started (though not always).
