Well, I decided to take a trip back to my younger days and play some older games. I decided to buy Final Fantasy 7 on the PSN network... and well, it wasn't the same. Back in about 7-8th grade I was beyond hooked on that game 24/7. Now that I tried to play I'm not even into it. I played about 30 minutes before I was bored out of my mind. I also popped my Final Fantasy 10 back in, I beat that game twice and it is my ALL-TIME favorite RPG. I once again played the first hour and was bored.. Now I sit and wonder, do RPG's have no replay value, or have I outgrown the games?? Has this ever happened to you guys?

FFVII's first few hours are incredibly slow paced, and X was so slow-paced I gave up on it. VII hasn't aged well either.
I've come to find RPG battles really boring, I replayed Chrono Trigger last year and wound up using a Game Genie code to automatically win the battles after one hit because they're boring. (Of course, this was like the 20th time I've played the best game in history.)
I know there's lots of people who like to do strategery and such but picking from menus and attacking back and forth until someone dies? And then waiting for the four hour summon cut scene? Probably why I prefer the action-RPG vein. Chrono Trigger aside.

That's why I was never really into the J-RPG's. I'm not a big fan of the battle sequences of just selecting attacks from a menu. Add to the fact that I'm not into to anime stuff especially the sci-fi-esque ones.

Chrono Cross was my fav RPG (had a NTSC version of it for PSX but never got to play Chrono Trigger.
I like turn-based strategy games like Heroes of Might and Magic 3 and Age of Empires etc. Not a fan of real time strategy games.
