Other video games, TV shows, movies, general chit-chat...this is an all-purpose off-topic board where you can talk about anything that doesn't have its own dedicated section.

Investigators from the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Emory University and Andrews University analyzed survey data from 552 adults in the Seattle-Tacoma area. The subjects ranged in age from 19 to 90, according to the study, published in the October issue of the American Journal of Preventive Medicine.
Inherently flawed, since it's not based on a sample that encompasses more US cities, hence more cultures, more habits/hobbies, etc.
Even the fucking weather could be a factor here...

How come el badman? You must have been paid by videogame companies to reject such a study personally!

No, but I'm a Marketing person in the first place, I've run similar studies requiring statistical models, and the size and composition of the sample is essential. It just seems insufficient here, since it's a fairly small group, and all based in one specific area.

You mean you were paid by big companies to run those studies. And now you're being paid to bring up gobbledygook like sample sizes. Well, around these parts we don't take kindly to those who believe in sample sizes. Statistics are worthless because of this guy who played two minutes!
CDC couldn't do Washington, Emory take an Atlanta survey, and Andrews do Southwest Michigan?
Female video-game players reported greater incidents of depression and "lower health status" than women who do not play video games, researchers said, while male players reported a higher BMI and more Internet use time than nonplayers.
Lulz. I think I can explain all of these in reasons other than video games.
For children and adults, he writes, games that require physical exertion, such as "Hide and seek" and "Freeze tag" are "still probably what we need most."
And let them get hurt both emotionally and physically? NEVER!

its not that people who play video games become fat.... Its people who are fat and like to sit around watching tv would much rather play video games than watch tv

Why wouldn't you instead call them "people who are fat and like to play video games"?
