Changes to NLSC Forum Structure

Wed Jul 01, 2009 11:36 pm

As you may have noticed, we've changed things around a little with the NLSC Forum. We have condensed a lot of sections for the older releases in the series and categorised all NBA Live releases prior to NBA Live '10 as "Older NBA Lives". We are also now utilising just one support section for all NLSC roster updates and merged the Global Hoops section back into NBA Talk, while Video Game Stories is now a subforum under Video Games Central.

These changes have been made to clean up the clutter, give better visibility to a few sections that may have been previously overlooked by some visitors and hopefully make browsing the Forum a lot easier in general.

Props to Jao for the original idea, I have to admit that I was kinda against it at the beginning, but now loving it as the forum looks a lot cleaner now. (Y)

My bad. You were the one who started the idea of condensing the forum, Jae and Andrew then finished it off. ;) I guess all of you guys deserves a little bit of credits here and there then. :)

Glad you like the changes guys. There'll quite likely be some further changes in the near future but hopefully these will be an improvement for most people in the meantime.

I'm guessing that as soon as the NBA season rolls around the other basketball related topics will dwindle down, so nice move if that's how it pans out.

It looks great now. Just a question though, what happened to the '08, '07, '06 dynasty sections? Sorry if it's mentioned here somewhere..

merged in with the general sections, same with tech support for each game

Just to add to that, it was done as there isn't as much activity in those sections these days and there's not as much call for three different sections for all general/gameplay topics as well as tech help. No posts have been lost though.

Have you considered joining the 2K Association Stories and NBA Live Dynasty Stories sections?

Re: Changes to NLSC Forum Structure

it was talked about when we were adding the 2k sections. Shot down due to the constant 2k vs Live crap that happens when those two games seem to occupy the same space.

Also it's kinda nice to know that in this one section youll get Live stories, and the other youll get 2k

I just noticed the number of posts per page have been halved. Its been a long time since I haven't updated my dynasty in a while, but was this part of the grand realignment? If so, is this modifyable?

It will be shortly, just installing and testing a mod that adds that function to the UCP.

EDIT: Further to that, I've discovered a bug in the mod we were using so it's been removed and we're back to 50 posts per page.

How about adding custom titles (or ranks) to each members? Bench Warmer, Role Player, Sixth Man and Starter

Just fill that in yourself if you want it?

I've thought about it from time to time and it's something I'll always keep in mind, but as most people would probably assign their own custom title once they qualify for it, I don't think posting ranks would really be all that useful or matter much to people. If anyone feels differently please feel free to speak out, as I said it's one of those ideas that's always kept in mind.

The ranks will just be another cause for a lot of dick-measuring and whatnot for the newbies.

Possibly, though I believe spammers will spam regardless, whether there's an incentive like a post rank or not.

Ouch, you don't have to make it personal Andrew.

Didn't dotorg have something like that (bench warmer, starter, etc.)?

I believe so, a lot of boards have post ranks of some kind and that's why I wouldn't rule it out completely.

Yeah, but it was more insulting. It's a function of PHPBB and I set them just to be stupid. I think 10,000 was like "ultimate asshole" or something.
