Your favourite NLSC related memories...

Postby J@3 on Tue Jun 23, 2009 2:36 pm

I know there's only like four people here who could actually have real memories about the NLSC, but nevertheless I'm interested to know yours.

I don't have one, mine would probably be more a compilation of memories as opposed to one singular event.

 The rapid and constant refreshing of the "I cannot believe my starting five..." thread as everyone battled to get milestone posts. I think Matt ultimately won didn't he?
 The MPac/JaRon/Ghamed MSN sessions. It's shocking how many girls will stick around and talk to three white guys pretending to be gangsta rappers who just want sex. One of them even added me and tried chatting me up afterwards, sluts.
 James wanting to call Andrew when something was happening on the forums. I can't remember what, but it was like 5am in Australia and James starts frantically messaging me on MSN asking for his mobile number. Keep in mind James lives in the US.
 The formation of The Syndicate and the Frank Castle Fan Club
 Superchats with Cyanide and Legend were always great fun, that is until Legend went batshit insane on everyone. There's a story to be told there but I'll leave it for another time.
 The time Ben and I managed to stretch an MSN convo over roughly 12 hours. I don't know how, I can't even remember what we talked about but it happened.
 The superchats when Jackal was doing his forum uprising thing like 4 years ago, that was hilarious.
 Homer's account on one of those Rate My (whatever) sites
 Frank Castle's internet dating profile
 The "year in review" threads people used to do, also the forum awards were decent for a while

I'll probably think of more, but I'm more interested in what other peoples are. I'm definitely forgetting some of mine but I'm sure they'll come to me.

Edit:

 Any and all of my interactions with the flame team of Yohance and Shane Hefty
 The Aussieland thread
 AndrewSCOTT not being one of those weirdos who measures his dick, but knowing how big it is to two decimal points
 Being an internet detective picking up on banned guys coming back
 The time a girl posted on the old NLSC

Edit 2:

Shit how did I forget Jim Basore - My Life. We spent AGES coming up with each chapter for that, and he freaked the fuck out. Made it all worthwhile.

 Working on the Live Dynasty (later Live GMC, I was gone by that point) stuff with Honor Glow. Those were seriously fun times for me
 Chatting with bhzmafia, Wormy10, and a couple of other people on MSN when we were really into the dynasty posting stuff
 Moderating the Dynasty sections and wherever else
 All-rookie NLSC team award from the 2004 NLSC Awards

I woudn't consider some as favorites but more like part of what I remember the most in NLSC, old and new:

 Showerfun. No use denying that it flooded the forums.
 Jackal being a mod and banning himself with serious intentions. I thought it was good for the novelty, until Axel came out.
 Legend being a dick by copying Jackal's forum persona.
 Being back in the new forums to see that there are more pinoys than before until realizing that something is wrong and an "oh shite" moment came down on me. Good thing there are others like Lean. :cheeky:
 Jordan vs. Kobe debates. I know there are a lot of them but each new one made gave me some laughs in one way or another.
 That patcher from Arizona who bragged about having a particular girlfriend and studying in a particular university, until some investigative posters found out that he's not really enrolled there and smelled the bullshite regarding his girlfriend.
 Having Peachy teach me Spanish via chat because I was crammng for a requirement in the uni, only to find out he was worse than me when some statements didn't make sense. He was probably laughing his ass out as he typed prepared Spanish sentences. Cabbages are your father (translated), wtf.
 Using Fenix's pic from the Post Your Pic thread to make women I chatted up with to send me naked pics of themselves. Am I sick, probably. Was it fun, hell yes. I'd really like to share the pics but I accidentally deleted all of them in one folder.
 One guy excessively promoting his site/forum in the NLSC. Most were pissed so they went to the site and flooded it with pics related to homosexuality (to put it nicely).
 That guy Dweeber and his Knowledge thread, which is basically the same like the Random thread but less funny.
 Chatting with Fenix and how he thinks it would be awesome if Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt are both in the same movie, so basically Fenix was acting like a schoolgirl. I didn't remember at that time but it already happened - Interview with a Vampire.
 The live draft of the first NLSC Yahoo basketball league. That was fun.
 Chatting with a young Nick about some random silly things that I forgot and his liking for music. He then showed me a website of his mom who's also inclined to music.
 Having bets on the forum for certain events (world cup, nba finals?) and the losers of each round/matchup must change their username to what the winners want and keep it for a week or two.
 When a girl posts in the NLSC (like Jae said), almost everyone will post in that thread. I remember reading the OP's post and finding out there were already about 10-20 posts after refreshing.
 Getting trance music recommendations from an old NLSC member (Gustavo) almost every week in chat.
 Pavel and his Pavenian language.
 Jowe and his soul crushing one-liners.
 The three-part thread of lolcat invasion.
 Tales' insightful posts (LOL)
 Rigging an online sim league with an old NLSC member, forgot his username, all I can remember is he liked the band SlipKnot. We would take 2-3 teams using different names then do trades that will strengthen our one preferred team.

 Photoshopped 8-Hype in the post a pic thread.
 Having way too much time on my hands to figure out how a bunch of NBA Live files work.
 The lolcat threads making fun of the myspace music guy.
 Working with c0nr4d, bigh0rt, and Jaosming on the SUM mod, and then cramming my ass off the last couple of days to get a release.
 The first time I read Nick's post in the drunk thread.
 Starting the short lived video-craze for NBA Live highlight compilations.
 The banned user who threatened that he was hacking the site and that he wanted to buy it, all after not getting permission to release an edited version of Andrew's roster.
 The username switching betweena few users from 06/07
 bigh0rt accidentally banning Jae.
 Finding an old wishlist post that I made where I described things that actually made it into NBA Live, but made the game worse. Then feeling guilty and banning my old account.

 I remember that. I think he'd banned two other vets in the space of a week.

LOL... the difference between  and LOL is LOL means I really actually laughed. That's hilarious.

 Coming up with ban thread reasons
 The JT droid stories Ben and I used to come up with on MSN that gradually spilled over onto the forums

Got mine:

 Inclusion in the NLSC team
 Release of JUMP07, bugged version.
 Release of JUMP07, fixed version.
 The McDwyane saga, and it's evolution from being a bot into a forum admin
 That lolcat invasion on the "Check out my MySpace" thread will be remembered forever
 Never been caught in a flame war with a fellow Pinoy, but that of Manipon/Mamanip/Coco!/Billie/itsalottafun!/Oakrhum was pretty much enough for a bashing. He's gangsta, you know.
 The "Hi You Guys!" thread by a Chinese member. Eventually swarmed by lolcats as well.
 The live chat with Jackal. :cheeky:
 Chat with Ben/dragon@4thQ about the same passion in hating the Lakers to death
 That patcher who stole Jao's rim patch and flamed Jao about it.
 Recent events in my Photoshop thread that filled almost 2 pages about :hump: and pussy-vectoring

Can't remember the others for now, I'll certainly post more later.

I don't really know... Don't really remember much in this forum, but I do remember the dynasty section being very much alive, especially during Live 2005-06 when it seemed the most active. Quality dynasties by The X (Mickael Pietrus was the franchise player on the Bobcats I remember (Y) ) cocobee, mafia, michyboy (I think was his name?) cklistie, jing, sit, oh god I could go on. One that really stuck out in my mind was this L.A. Clippers one by this one poster (forget his name) who had the most ridiculous graphics and photoshopped magazine covers I've ever seen. I remember being pretty jealous that everyone was such a photoshop pro or had really nice organization when it came to their dynasties.

A few of the ones that immediately come to my mind have been posted already, but I've definitely got to co-sign on the "Starting Five" thread. Sure, it was spam to the max when it was all said and done but the way it fell apart having been a serious thread to start off with, all because the guy was adamant that KG's natural position was point guard and people disagreed that it was a good idea to play him there.

Aside from that...finding the site back in 1997, eventually being made webmaster and getting to go to EA's studios would have to top my personal list. As far as public stuff that entertained us all, I can't think of anything better than what's already been brought up.

Here are some of mine:

- My first day here. Just when I was about to quit playing Live 08 because it sucks so bad I found out about NLSC. I've been playing NBA Live for years and it wasn't until that day that I found out about patches.
- My first cyberface patch. I remember how big of a mess it was, but that's where it all started.
- Teamming up with CKal to patch cyberfaces. Jeez, I really miss him.
- Getting compliments from Glen for the first time.
- The departure of CKal, it was a sad day for me since I have to do all the ebo editing myself after he left. :x
- The release of my Kobe Bryant cyberface patch. It's probably one of the best cyberfaces that I've ever made. Definitely one of the hardest too.
- Patching sigshots and animations. The reaction/attention I got was amazing.
- The release of my Extreme Animations patches. (EA vol.1 & EA vol. 1.5)
- The release of my Houston Rockets cyberface pack that took more than 3 months to complete.
- My first anniversary here at NLSC.
- Getting a PM from Andrew asking whether I'm interested in becoming part of the team.
- First day here as a team member. I cant describe how awesome it felt.
- Talking about pussy-vectoring in Lean's Photoshop thread.

That's all I can think of at the moment, I'll post more later when I have time to do a complete flashback.
