Other video games, TV shows, movies, general chit-chat...this is an all-purpose off-topic board where you can talk about anything that doesn't have its own dedicated section.

I didn't see any thread on this yet, and that one is sure to generate some buzz pretty soon, especially after the E3, where it will be presented this summer.
Bioware released this "prelude to E3" trailer/interview a couple of days ago:
There was also a quick teaser from a couple of months ago (already posted somewhere else I believe):
After seeing what an incredible RPG game the first Mass Effect was, I think it's a euphemism to have humongous expectations for that one too...

Hurrah for Liara, that hot alien chick has to stay.
As for what I read though, the actions that were made in Mass Effect will have an effect in Mass Effect 2, so long as the save game from Mass Effect will be carried over. So in my case, Kaidan should be dead by ME2.
And I have doubts that Shepard is dead. What they could bring up here is to have an entirely new character to look for the missing Shepard.
Thu May 21, 2009 2:14 am
Yeah, I see no reason for Shepard to be dead, I think that was just to get people talking...
I played that game 3 times, making different choices each time (sleeping with 3 different peeps

), but since I uninstalled it and did not keep my saved game files, I guess the "roll over" feature won't be that useful to me.
Either way, if they can make combat a tad more intuitive, and include more sides quests/missions to increase the amount of gameplay, that new one will certainly be memorable once again.
Thu May 21, 2009 9:30 am
Err, three people? Who's the third one?
My take on the combat that made it so "easy" is the unlimited ammo. With the weapon overheating as your only limit when in combat, you can easily take on Saren at any time.

That prick from the Fifth Fleet annoys me everytime I transfer to another system. The guy would always "ask for a favor" for you to land in a random planet, run around in that Mako unit with bouncy rubber for tires, and shoot the hell out of the mercs/biotics inside a random facility that looks the same as that of the other planets.
If they can put a variety on this, then I can say ME2 would be a tad better. If BioWare looks to go back on top of the RPG genre again though, they need to do a lot: Fallout 3 is still the game to beat.

Liara, Ashley and finally Kaidan (playing as a chick obviously).

Those were some of the little things that annoyed me the most.
I also wish the Citadel could have offered more places to visit, and many more NPCs to talk to. It was a great environment, but it just felt too empty ultimately.
Fri May 22, 2009 4:50 pm
Agreed on the Citadel. I thought that the large areas can be explored too, like that of Fallout 3's. But all of it was just for eye's view only.

And like the entire galaxy too, is empty. The planets, like the Normandy scouts from afar, and sends the shore party exactly where the plot is. Somehow unrealistic to me.
I noticed too that when you click on Earth in the galaxy map, it has a portrait. I had thought that you could land on Earth but I think it's only a fascination.

I guess the moon was as close as it got, but yeah that would have certainly been cool to be able to land around the Human Alliance headquarters on Earth and have side quests associated with that (especially with your alien crew, stories could have unfolded from that). Quite a different lanscape compared to the rest, but given what they did with Vermine or the Citadel, they could have probably made a nice mix with that.

That moon quest was pretty much the same as the other planet's exploration quests.
The game is too big in size yet the content is pretty shortlisted. I hope that they offer more on the next game.

Fucking Liara!
Thanks to Glen for giving me the link.

IGN's latest hands on preview:
http://pc.ign.com/articles/991/991786p1.htmlLooks like there's quite a few changes when it comes to controls, ammunition and other gameplay elements.
Sat Jun 06, 2009 11:10 am
Great to know about the ammunition.
I hope they could enhance the combat too, like add more melee elements.
Tue Jul 14, 2009 9:11 am
The site is French, but
the video is in English (scroll down just a little).
Crazy shit
Tue Jul 14, 2009 9:25 pm
Oh it wasn't ammunition, they call it "heat sink."
Thu Aug 20, 2009 10:22 am
Cool, so that scraps Wrex I guess.
And... BLOOD DRAGON ARMOR.
Thu Oct 01, 2009 2:23 am
The article is in French, but it mostly features a new video and screenshots of a new character, Subject Zero:

Cool, I must say there's a difference in ME2's graphics and animation in that video.
And in the intro where the list of "Mission Roster" is displayed, wow, there are a lot of party members to choose from. I think there's also a part in that video where the "ammo" is displayed like a hologram atop of a gun.

There's been a bunch of trailers and previews in the last couple of months, but
this one has to be the best I've seen so far.
Only a couple of weeks left, this is gonna be fucking sweet.

EDIT: I got a little excited and just pre-ordered the Special Edition for PC. Shame on me and my complete lack of willpower
Sat Jan 09, 2010 10:37 am
Well at least you'll get the special items, plus I think the Blood Dragon armor from Mass Effect is also included there.
Whatever happened to effin' Liara?

I'm having a delusion that every Asari shown in the previous trailers was her.

Well that's what amazon says at least. Apparently, I'm supposed to receive an email at some point with a code to unlock the armor. Not too concerned about that, but that could be interesting if it really does act as a lie detector.

I'm pretty sure I saw a glimpse of her a couple of times, but yeah, the trailers really haven't shown much about her so far.

Based on the gameplay videos I've seen, no signs of the old party members as well.
In my first and only playthrough, I had my Shepard a 100% paragon and had Kaidan and the council dead.
Mon Jan 11, 2010 6:18 am
I played the game 3 times, which I had never done before. It had its shortcomings (the weapon/armor system wasn't as interested as games like Fallout 3 or STALKER for me), but I had never played something so cinematic, with so much literature created as a backbone for the various stories, and with so much emphasis on characters. So I'm really looking forward to more of that, especially since they seem to have improved the action elements (which was sort of the weakness in the first one).

Tali's still around, and
so is Garrus.
Mon Jan 11, 2010 1:36 pm
Great, I have not used the both of them.

Garrus only once, when the game required me to.
Tue Jan 12, 2010 6:52 am
Yeah, both were kinda sucky. I would usually have to use fucking Tali because my tech skills would be too low to open crates and stuff otherwise...Her story was pretty interesting though.
Tue Jan 12, 2010 3:40 pm
I bought the first one in the recent Steam sales for $5 or so...haven't got the hard disk space or time to play it yet though
