Right guys, since NBA 2k9 wont seem to work on my computer anymore I thought I would run a FIFA 09 Dynasty/Story. The only Soccer dynastys I have tried have been with Football Manager (FM) and they never seem to work out probably as the game isn't really suited to a dynasty type format.

Anyway the idea behind this dynasty is that I will be replacing one of the Cocacola Championship (League below the English Premier League) with a new team called "London FC" or more affectionately known as "The Lions". I will be keeping a few of the players from the team that I replace (havent decided on who yet, will be in a coming post) but the rest will be released on a free. I will give myself a transfer budget that I will use to fill my squad, and then from there it should be all go.

I think a few obstacles may stand in the way of this idea. Firstly a large amount of the signings will need to be done outside career mode as the game wont let you use a created team unless it has at least (don't quote me on this) 22 players. Therefore I will need to do a large amount of the signings outside the game. However I will make sure that I deduct the amount the player would likely cost in game and in real life from the budget I give myself.

Another problem I forsee is that I will probably find the first season reasonably easy, but to prevent it getting out of hand I will set limits on the ratings of players that I can sign, ie; no player with a rating over 82 and only 2 players allowed over 78 etc etc. Once again I will outline these rules in a coming post.

Anyway im getting quite excited about this so im hoping it will work out alright.

London FC now officially founded

Today it was officially announced by club owner Daniel Bishop that the London Football Club has officially been founded. This came after days of speculation over whether the proposed by-out of Championship side Birmingham city by relatively unknown American investor Daniel Bishop would go ahead. In a move different than that of Roman Abramovich's buy-out of Chelsea FC, the new owner wanted to change the clubs image, so drastically in face that he wanted the name, logo and playing colors all changed, as well as the club to move to a new stadium. It was decided by the English Football Association that for the move to go ahead 50% of the clubs existing fans would have to agree via petition, and with over 60% signing the letter either in person or online the move was given the go-ahead. Bishop plans to appoint a chairman in the next few days as well as submitting an application for the club to take Birmingham City's place in the Coca-cola Championship.

London FC given go-ahead to join Coca-cola Championship

The English Football Association have given the newly founded London Football Club permission to join the Coca-cola Championship after the club applied to take Birmingham City's spot, the club that London FC arose from. While it was Daniel Bishop's (the club's new owner) ambition for London FC to compete in the English Premier League, there was no way for the club to be included as another club would have to be removed from the competition. The only other option available other than entering in the Coca-cola Championship was for London FC to enter at the very bottom of all national competitions and work their way up, an option that was in no way feasible for owner or fans. With rumors that Bishop is looking to inject the club's coffers with an initial £50m transfer budget, London FC immediately look to be the favorites for promotion to the Premier League next season.

London FC announce club's first Chairman and Manager

Today in a press conference held by the club, owner Daniel Bishop announced that the London Football Club's first Chairman and Manager had been appointed. Robert Wilson will act as the clubs Chairman of the board, Wilson who has been on various large club and society boards has grown his reputation over the years as a well rounded financial and managerial officer who has a good knowledge of the running of sport clubs. The club's first manager will be Mark Moore and relatively inexperienced manager from New Zealand. While Moore's managerial experience is limited to the New Zealand football league and Australian A-League, Bishop said it was the interview that really set him apart from other candidates. Bishop stated at the conference that the situation was ideal for both the club and Moore as the first season in the Championship will give Moore a chance to accustom himself with the English league, while all going to plan the club will possibly be looking at their manager for years to come as Moore enters the Managerial game at a young age. More announcements are expected to be made in the coming days regarding club and sponsor information as well as the first personnel movements made by Moore.

Game Settings

 Level: Semi Professional (This will increase rapidly, i'm just getting used to the game currently)
 Game Speed: Slow
 Half Length: 6 mins (4 mins for Friendlies)
 Number of starting subs: 7

Dynasty Rules

These are the rules that I have set myself in selecting the players for the squad. To be honest I don't think they are that strict as when I went through and formed the squad I didn't really have to think about the rules too much as the players I wanted to go for fit the rules pretty well.

Pre Manager Mode player selection
Before I can start a manager mode the game requires that the team have 10 outfield players and a goalie. I decided that I need to have 16 players including goalies as the the friendlies start before any transfers can be processed.

Spending Limits
The Maximum that I can spend on any single player in the first season is £11m, this amount can only be spent once. All other first season transfers must be under £5m with only 5 of those able to be above £3m. The transfer budget at the beginning is £50m which has to cover all transfers done outside of manager mode as well as those done inside manager mode. IE if I spend £18m on the 16 players before starting manager mode then my starting transfer budget will be £32m. Spending limits for the second season may change, I am yet to decide.

Age Limits
The only age limit I will set is that there can be no more than 5 players that are born before 1982 or over the age of 26. Each year the year will change, so in the second season it will be 1983 etc.

Rating Limits
I will set myself rating limits but this is just for at the start of the game and during the first transfer window, after that I can sign players regardless of the their rating as the spending limits should still make it reasonably difficult to sign the elite players. Only 1 player can be rated 80 or over, only 7 players can be rated 75 or over and 5 players must be under the rating of 70 overall. Keep in mind when I post my squads that players that I added before starting manager mode rating's can increase once I start manager mode, therefore the rating limits will not apply to players whose ratings increased, I will go on their starting ratings.

Regarding Birmingham Players
I will make it a rule that I have to keep 4 Birmingham players in the squad, I can choose whoever I want but the above rules will still apply. The Birmingham players have to stay during the first transfer window, but from the January Window of the first season onwards they are fair game and can be sold off.

Cheers bro, I have a feeling this season in the Championship will be a breeze, its the FA Cup this season and then the EPL next season that will be tough.

Cheers dude, yeah im hoping I can go quite far, I fancy my chances against a lot of the EPL teams, hopefully I set up a showdown with my beloved Arsenal. Next update should probably have which players will be retained from Birmingham. Lets say there shouldn't be too many supprises, and one of them is looking like he may be on track to become a London FC legend.

Birmingham Players Released from Contracts

In a press conference today held at Birmingham's St Andrew's stadium, London FC manager Mark Moore announced that all Birmingham players had been released from their contracts with the club. Moore held individual meetings with all the players giving them the option of signing new contracts with London FC, in these meetings he also outlined his vision for the club as well as the roles he would be offering each player if they chose to sign with the club. While a press conference had been scheduled in two days time to announce which players would be choosing to stay with the club, it will no longer be needed as all players were able to make their decision by the end of day of their meeting. Only four Birmingham players decided to stay with the club with the majority of the other players citing player roles as unsatisfactory. The four players choosing to remain at the club are fullback Stephen Kelly, Central Defender Liam Ridgewell, Central Midfielder Sebastian Larsson and Striker James McFadden. All are expected to have significant roles in the team while McFadden is expected to be the teams main striker pending future signings.

Moore's next task will be to bring the first team squad up to 16 players before the club starts their round of pre-season friendly games. While there have been no confirmed rumors of potential targets, Moore has openly said that he will be focusing on building a young side with a few more experienced players to act as mentors and to give the side some mental resolve in tougher games.

Moore Announces Squad of 16 for Pre-Season Friendlies

In a press conference today held via LondonFC.com club manager Mark Moore announced his first signings made at London FC as well as the 16 man squad to play in the clubs three pre-season friendly matches. Along with the four Birmingham players who decided to sign on with London FC, Moore has brought in players from a range of leagues to help build a rounded side for competing in the EPL and Europe in the future. Moore's biggest signing so far was the £4m purchase of Sotiris Nimis from Greek club Panathinaikos. Ninis is touted as one of the top young talents in Greece will look to be making a big impact for The Lions. Moore had some great success in raiding the youth academies of some of the top clubs in Europe, signing promising mid fielders Jack Wilshere and Aaron Ramsey from Arsenal at some great prices. He also signed two promising youngsters from Paris Saint Germain in Center Back Mamadou Sakho and Defensive Midfielder Younousse Sankhare. James McFadden will be partnered up front with the exciting Ghanaian forward Asamoah Gyan who Moore signed for a value fee of £2.7m.

Moore's success in the transfer window so far has been raising more than a few eyebrows, mainly because a lot of the players signed would not usually be expected to want to join a Coca-cola Championship side, however when asked, most players have responded that they think Moore has a great vision and with the financial situation of the club most believe that making the Premier League next season is a sure thing. There has even been rumor of interest in joining the club from high profile names such as Joao Moutinho and Carlos Tevez, however whether these rumors lead to anything is another question.

Transfer Signings to Date:
Jack Wilshere, 16 (MF) - Arsenal £1.4m
Sergio Asenjo, 19 (CK) - Real Valladolid £2.5m
Aaron Ramsey, 18 (MF) - Arsenal £1.5m

Jerzy Dudek, 35 (GK) - Real Madrid £1m
Armand Traore, 19 (DF) - Portsmouth/Arsenal* £1m
Sotiris Ninis, 18 (MF) - Panathinaikos £4m
Asamoah Gyan, 23 (FW) - Stade Rennais £2.7m
Adrien Silva, 19 (MF) - Sporting Club de Portugal £1m
Titus Bramble, 27 (DF) - Wigan Athletic £1m

Yeah he will probably play a lot of games on the wing if I play a 4-4-2. That line-up is just for the friendlies. Im intending on playing a formation that has 1DMC, 1MC, and 1AMC with 3 strikers since the quality of my team should mean that I can play more attacking. In the formation I intend for him to be the longterm first choice at either MC or AMC, but to be honest he may be coming off the bench for a start as hes not that great at the start of the game.

Pre-Season Friendlies Review

London FC started their inaugural season with a relatively small pre-season friendly schedule, only facing three clubs. While three games is not a huge amount, especially for a squad that hasn't even played one game together before, the quality of opposition was always going to be testing with all three clubs playing at a similar or higher level than London FC and two of the games being played away. While we would have liked to give you in depth match reports like we intend to for competitive matches, due to media restrictions we will only be able to provide brief overviews of the matches. We will however provide you with the Manager's thoughts on the games.

'I Believe the Squad is Heading in the Right Direction'
Mark Moore... manager impressed with his sides early performances

On his sides overall performances...
"We played very consistently over the three games. We controlled possession in every single game and showed strength in defense. We perhaps lacked in our determination in the final third, I believe this could be because of the lack of a playmaker to find those crucial killer passes. We were unlucky to concede in every game as a lot of the goals were weak, I believe this may be down to the defense still learning how to work with each other. The Reggina game was very unlucky, we conceded early and then fought back well but just couldn't seem to find the net. Perhaps their second goal should have been disallowed, but these things happen in football and we need to learn to deal with them. The side looked demoralised after that second goal, and it showed as we only had one more attempt on goal after that."

On James McFadden's form...
"He is in sensational form. There was a reason that I made it a priority to resign him. He has shown time and time again that he can easily dominate at this level and i'm hoping he can carry his form into the Premiership. He will be a crucial part of this team and I pray he stays injury free this season."

On the youth of the side...
"I believe they are already showing maturity beyond their years. When selecting this side I made sure that most of the players I selected had already proved that they can cope with the pressure of top or second flight football. I have been especially impressed with Sankhare, he has been a rock for us in the center of midfield and it has allowed his central midfield partners to get forward more often. I see a little bit of Patrick Viera in him, I predict a bright future ahead for him."

On the rumored signings of Joao Moutinho and Carlos Tevez...
"Possibly and No."

On future signings in this transfer window...
"I will definitely be signing more players. We still have a significant amount of transfer money left and the squad is far too small as it stands. I aim to have at least 20 players in the squad by the end of the window."

On potential targets...
"I won't be mentioning any names as I don't like how the press stirs up rumors. As I mentioned earlier we need someone creative who can make those important passes and can unlock defenses. We have players that are great running at the opposition in Ninis, Vidosic and Gyan, but we need more of a playmaker type of player, in the mold of Cesc Fabregas or Andrea Pirlo. We also need to be more deep in defense, I purposely selected versatile players in the midfield to help cover injury, but it is harder to do that with defense as you need to be particular about who you are playing together, I will be looking to add three defenders, at the very least two."

Cheers mate, well these recaps are pretty thin, mainly because I didnt take screens of game info etc or screenshots as I hadnt really thought about how I was going to present the games. But dont worry the actual league games will have screenshots as well as highlights. I plan to do monthly recaps and do in depth coverage of 1 or 2 games a month, while the other games will be covered similar to above, just with a bit more info.

Cheers guys, Yeah McFadden has been a pleasent supprise. I actually forgot to add Ramsey after I found out how much he costs. Probably a good thing cos I doubt Arsene would have sold before he had even played for them. Might go for him in the next summer window. Saivet is showing promise, although the stupid thing about FIFA is that any young unestablished player has crappy stanima so he rarely lasts a game and is always too slow, even though he is known as a quick player.

Lions Announce Marquee Signing

João Moutinho ... London FC's new £10m Playmaker will be looking to make an immediate impact in England

Today London FC announced that manager Mark Moore had completed the clubs first major signing. João Moutinho will be joining London FC from Sporting Club de Portugal on a 3 year deal thought to be worth around £2.5m per year. The transfered fee agreed between the two clubs, while not publicly confirmed, is thought to be in the £10m region. Speculation had been high that Moore would be looking to land the Portuguese international with Sporting looking to cash in on one of their young stars, many believed that Moutinho would be the perfect match for Moore's side who were in desperate need of some creative spark in the midfield. However the biggest stumbling block for London was not believed to be agreeing on the transfer fee, rather getting the signature of the rising young star with the move from a top flight European League to the Coca-Cola Championship definitely a step down.

Once again it was the players belief in Moore's vision and the financial position of the club that proved to be winning argument, much like the other young stars that have joined the club, Moutinho believes that the club is destined for success, and not only by gaining promotion to the Premier League, but by immediately competing for European Qualification. Speaking to LondonFC.com from Lisbon, Moutinho said "I'm willing to play a year in a lower division to have an opportunity to be known as one of the players that helped this club from nowhere, to being one of the top clubs in Europe. This has always been a dream of mine, and now with the chance to do that, I can't tell you how excited I am."

João had an extremely successful career playing for Sporting CP. Once he established himself in the first team, he quickly gained a reputation as an extremely consistant player and was almost immediately a fan favorite. He has proven he can play anywhere in the midfield, and has a dynamic box to box style of play which makes it seem as if he is involved in almost every play. During his four year top flight career João has shown he not only is a great play maker but also has an eye for goal when the situation presents itself, scoring 18 goals for his club. Expect to see many more while he wears a Lions jersey.

We expect to be announcing more signings in the coming days as Moore tries to complete his side before League games commence. Stay Tuned.
