Keeping the perfect balance?

Postby Doobie on Mon Nov 24, 2008 4:19 am

Well this is a continuation of my last thread, the one about the job. I'm just wondering how you guys balance EVERYTHING in your life? Like, how do you make time for work, school, girlfriend, friends, family, games, online?? I'm not complaining about anything folks I'm just curious to how you guys do it.

Prioritize. Make a list.

What I do is make sure I go to fucking work and don't just party afterwards spending all the fucking money like I used to. While this has lead to a lackluster social life compared to the past, it has sure saved me alot of money. So, I will only go out on occasion if there is an event or a couple people are all going out. I'm not just going out for the sake of going out. I make sure I have clothes to wear. I make sure there is gas in the car. I don't bother to call friends just to hang out and do what I am already doing, but with them, which is beer and entertainment/relaxation. If there is something happening we will contact each other. Sometimes you just have to sacrifice something. Some days you just don't go on the internet, or you don't play any games, or you don't watch any tv or movies.

If I were going to school as well as working. You would rarely ever see me posting.

That's it in a nutshell. Procrastination is one of my worst habits, you've just got to push through it and get things done.

When I was in high school my priorities were very gray. It seemed like it changed on a weekly basis. However, school and work were two things that were important but certainly not directing my full attention to. I had more things on my mind like friends and family that I felt were more important. Keep in mind I was at a job and not a career...

Things have changed for me now though. I'm in the Navy now and my job and the mission is my absolute #1 priority. It can't be anything else. The rest of my life falls in somewhere behind that. At the moment, I just hang out on base with my friends here in my free time and bullshit. There are going to be unpredictable things that come up that will shake up your balance but as long as you make an effort to have that balance things work out. You will naturally and subconsciously prioritize. You just need sometime for your mind and body to adjust to a routine or environment before you can begin that process.

I probably worded this whole post horribly but hopefully you got the gist of what I mean.

How you doing anyways, Doobs?
