Your Ultimate Multiplatform Versus Game

Postby JaoSming on Thu Nov 20, 2008 5:07 am

If you could a game that would feature cross platform gameplay (ie PS3 vs 360) what kind of game would it be?

Mine would be kinda like MAG for the PS3 and I guess a bit like WoW (never played it so I could be wrong)

I would have 3 factions, PC users, 360 users and PS3 users go at it in one massive world. It would be a first person or a third person shooter by the user's choice and a basic 3 fort deathmatch. Each console has one main base which could be upgraded with moats, walls and other shit and would be set in modern times. I would use a squad spawn technique similar to Battlefield Bad Company and there would be no vehicles in the game. To pay for fort upgrades and personal/squad upgrades one would have to steal shit from opposing forts.

Each "round" would last 23.5 hours with games ending at 8pm with the exception of weekends where it would run through Saturday night. This would allow people to come home from work/school to finish their fight and start off strong in the next round. The half hour of down time would allow players to free roam w/o weapons and come up with strategies. Highly ranked players for each platform would become commanders, officers etc and can give optional objectives to the peons who randomly pop in and out to play the game.

Just a thought :P
Opinions are my own.

It would have to be a multi-facted game. Options for controlling a team similar to RTS games if not enough people were on a server to play as a single player. Hand to hand combat from stunning an opponent so you can loot them or their clothes to go undercover, to long range sniping. Provide some kind of powerup so a team could use an artillary strike. Engineers could have a mini game where they try to decipher the opponents code, and once they crack it, they get to listen in on the opposite teams chatter and/or see what targets and plans they have. Have these battles anywhere from land, sea, air, and space, and even underwater for submarines. Synchronous like spore so a player could still play the AI in an area where there are not enough players playing. Suicidal führers, Rogue generals claiming dictatorship could create a custom faction and/or be cleansed with friendly-fire. And of course, as much gore, screaming, and morphine as possible. Prisoners of War will get abused and can give up secrets in order to become a senator...eh, I mean free.

Just tangent thoughts after reading about Jon's boring role playing game of 24 hour lego-fort builder.
