Problem with songs at YouTUbe

Fri Nov 14, 2008 2:11 am

Hi,
Yesterday I uploaded some videos on YouTube. One with background music was removed (or invisible for others) right after the upload. It contained the song Itz nothin from YoungRoscoe. The reason was because of some copyright ....text by ...... I had to remove the sound. But why did other videos from me and other users didnt got banned? Songs like HipHop lives or 88 I did use too. And these didnt got banned

Maybe it depends on the copyright holder. Someone may have viewed your video and flagged it for using copyrighted content. I guess if you plug the artist and record company in the info stating that they own the rights to the song, maybe it won't ge deleted. For instance, there are plenty of NBA videos on youtube that aren't fromt he official NBA youtube account, and some get deleted, while some stay available. Maybe it's just hit or miss.

It really does seem random. I've heard that entities like the NBA, WWE and music labels go so far as hiring people simply to comb through YouTube and report copyright infringement, yet you do see plenty of videos that haven't been uploaded by the copyright holders. As Pdub said, it would probably help to acknowledge their copyright.
