Other video games, TV shows, movies, general chit-chat...this is an all-purpose off-topic board where you can talk about anything that doesn't have its own dedicated section.

I know it's been out a while, but I only just got around to watching it. Having heard that it was a bit of a letdown compared to the first movie, my expectations were fairly low going in. I'd have to say that on the whole I was pleasantly surprised as a result, though I'd definitely agree it wasn't as good as the first.

i concur, not as good as the first but I have no regrets buying it. Still a funny movie/extended episode

If I completely ignored the five seasons of Futurama and the movie and tried my best to watch the film like I was meeting these characters for the first time, I'd say it wasn't too bad. But, I couldn't do that.
It was funny in some parts, but the whole movie didn't feel like the series at all. Lowest common denominator-type humor that appeals to a lot of viewers and gets good sales, but loses that character the show always held. Kind of like watching the end of Season 3-now of the US Office, or like the new Simpsons. Obviously there will be some writing changes after cancellation and whatnot, but the series took a serious change in direction, starting with the first movie.

The thing is, Eric Kaplan has worked on Futurama since the first season and written some good episodes and David X. Cohen helped develop the story so it's not really a change in staff. I think the movie format has them experimenting with grander storylines and trying for a more "epic" feel than a standard 22 minute television episode.
It wasn't without its humour or cleverness but it was a pretty blatant spoof of the Christian faith, which didn't offend me but was a little too obvious making it a bit heavy handed.

So the third movie is out, called "Bender's Game". I think it had some hilarious moments but the part in Bender's fantasy world got a bit boring in my opinion.
Zoidberg was just awesome in the first 20 minutes.
I'd rank the movies
1. Bender's Big Score (best)
2. Beast With A Billion Backs
3. Bender's Game (worst)
There will be a fourth, right?

There'll be a fourth. Beyond that, I believe it's up in the air.
I haven't seen the third one yet but the first one remains my favourite for now.

I think Bender's Game is the best one so far. The plot isn't as good as Fry's in Bender's Big Score, but aside from much of the fantasy part (which only comprise 30ish minutes or so and the final battle was good) it is superior.
CAN'T YOU COUNT THE LEGS?!?
Did we all have some kind of freaky dream or was it ghosts?
Neither Fry, IT WAS SCIENCE.
CHANGE PLACES!!!

Any story evolving from Nibbler's droppings is the best story of all.
Only thing I didn't like was the lack of a finish for Lela's story.

Felt like a long episode of the TV series, which is what I want. There were still some parts that felt out of place in terms of humor, but I'd say the funniest of the three movies. Finally, some more Fry moments I actually lol'ed in.
"Also, can you try this milk?"
