Paul Newman (1925-2008)

Postby Andrew on Mon Sep 29, 2008 10:06 am

As most people have probably seen by now, Paul Newman passed away a couple of days ago at the age of 83. Similar to the late Charlton Heston, while I knew who he was and recognised him as a legend of cinema, I'm not all that familiar with his most famous works having really only seen him in guest appearances later in his career and occasional appearances on late night talk shows.

Rest in Peace.

Cool Hand Luke and Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid are two of my favorite films of all time. He also had a large part of all the money he made go to good causes. I worked a camp for terminally kids mainly funded by Paul Newman and a charity he started. R.I.P.

Indeed, I wasn't aware that he donated all the post-tax profits of Newman's Own products to charity. I'm sure it was common knowledge but it was a fact I hadn't stumbled upon until now.
