Question about certain photos..

Hi, I'd like to know how people make photos with no background.
For eg, guys like Kris and Lean have avatars that don't have backgrounds.
How do I do this? Thanks..

Skillmatic, u just need to create a new transparent object in photoshop, then create or cut a some element from the pic, u like, and paste it to the transparent Pshop document, make some blur or whatever and save -> here u go - u have a pic without background!

You cannot save it as a jpeg, though. You must save it as a PNG for it to show up with no background when you upload it on the web.

Ok thanks, but my photoshop: MGI Photosuite is a really simple one.
What photoshop do you reccomend I should use?
