Yet ANOTHER internet ownage EPIC thread...

Sat Mar 29, 2008 3:54 pm

Remember that thread Jae posted that linked to a thread about an idiot that was spamming his own website at some NSX Owners' forum, and then got owned badly by the other forum members? Well this time, it's time for a Nissan Skyline GTR owner to get their turn at pwning someone. Try to avoid reading the summary of what happens in the updated first post, but I don't think reading the summary wil take away from the experience. Though if you don't wanna sift through the many replies where it's just people repping their forums and complimenting on a job well done, the first post does a great job of summarizing everything that happened.

Calgary Sun:

Crime: Net Used to Find Stolen Car

Calgary Sun wrote:Members of a car enthusiasts' website used the Internet and a little ingenuity to take down a suspected car thief and return a prized set of wheels back to its rightful owner.

After Shaun Ironside's beloved 1991 Nissan Skyline GT-R was stolen during a test-drive Wednesday, the owner of Envision Auto posted pictures of his souped-up ride in a forum on www.beyond.ca, asking others to be on the lookout for it.

And the 27-year-old's car isn't your average commuter vehicle.

Imported from Japan, the $35,000 right-hand drive has been refitted with a RB26 engine as well as a Greddy T78 single-turbo kit, lowered suspension, after-market exhaust and Trust intercooler.

"That was actually my first ever post on that website. I wasn't expecting it (to be found), I was just letting people know," he said.

But 12 hours later, a sharp-eyed member who goes by the handle Jamez saw Ironside's car while driving near Chinook Mall and managed to snap a clear picture of the two men inside, which he promptly posted for others to see.

Just hours after, several other forum members reported seeing the stolen wheels cruising around Calgary challenging other drivers to race, with one managing to follow the thieves home and get their address.

"I really couldn't have asked for anything better," said Ironside after getting his car returned.

An 18-year-old Calgary man is now facing charges.

It was a matter of luck and that two-fingered guy's stupdity. And his own bad luck that he only had two fingers, leading to the massive Claw jokes.

50 USD (and counting) for a dumb hat that he wears. IMO, they should give it to JAY or whoever it was that spotted him, as some kind of reward.

Skipped like 20 pages, have they got into his gf's Facebook account yet?

Sweet. Anybody could be detectives when there's a little community and the internet.

Man, just reading that thread made me wish I had a fast car and lived in Calgary so I could go looking for that fool.

Lmao at the guy who was scared by the Halloween mask the fool wore in the house window when he drove by the house.

While this is of epic proportions, it's kind of comparable to people who steal patches, because our community locks down on them. All we need is names, photos, and addresses. :D

That's fantastic. And they say nothing productive comes out of Internet forums...

I am still reading the whole thread so that i can feel the ownage of stealer. The first 2 pages they are rooting for the "JAYMEZ guy" who first caught the stealer. Then after that they are like spammers telling "call the cops now" all over the thread. Nice that forums are way to caught thevies like that. COMPLETE OWNED

I have to admit I read the summary when I saw there were over 50 pages when I first loaded the thread, as I figured there'd be a lot of posts just complimenting the efforts and such. It's worth a read though, the videos are probably the highlight.

Good thing the thief got caught, it's terrible to lose a sweet ride like that.
The car appears simple on the outside but pics of what lie under the hood, damn!

lol at the invisible middle finger and zoidberg pics.
