As it stands at the NLSC, our only real methods of punishment are warnings and bans. There has been no in-between but now that will change. Coupled with the fact that I'm now an admin and have access to user permissions, we also have a new hack on the forums that allows us to set a post per day limit on individual users. Here is a list of the new punishments, followed by some brief explanations of how they will be implimented and why...

Daily post number limit

Deletion of topics/posts made in particular forums

Disabling/editing custom title

Editing avatar/sigs
Daily Post Number LimitThis punishment will be for people who are posting too much without actually contributing anything. Spam that isn't ban-worthy but is still worth a punishment. The hope is that the person who has this happen to them will spend the time they are restricted to re-think their posting style and try to spend the posts they do get wisely. The number of posts you will be restricted to is dependant on a few factors, mostly how many times per day you post currently, what sort of posts you are making and how severe the spamming is. If this happens to you you will be notified by PM, and again, if you have a problem with it you have no one to blame but yourself.
We encourage people to post regularly, but if you do, make sure the posts are worth reading and not just posting for the sake of posting.
Deletion of Posts/Threads in particular forumsThis is a more severe version of the punishment listed above. Essentially, you would have to be right on the brink of a banning for this to be implimented. Basically you will be informed of what forums you are not allowed to create threads/posts in, and if you try to post there those posts/threads will be deleted by myself or one of the moderators in that forum section. Again, this is more of a last resort punishment, if this happens to you you are more than likely one mistake away from a ban so it would be wise to step your game up.
Disabling/editing Custom TitleThis is basically a humiliation tactic. If someone is being excessively aggressive/obnoxious but not enough to warrant banning, this may be used as a deterent. Keep in mind that you'll be stuck with the avatar or custom title for however long is decided by myself or whoever gives out the punishment. It won't be used often, but if it happens to you then you deserved it, don't bother complaining.
Editing avatar/sigsAs above, albeit more rare. Will also be used on those people who manage to find forum loopholes that allows them to use sigs/avatars that are excessively above the limits as set in the forum rules.
This doesn't mean we will become stricter or anything like that, it just means that as opposed to there being either ban or nothing, there are now alternatives which hopefully will make things not only easier for the mods and admins, but also for the rest of the community as well. It also will give alot of people a second chance they previously most likely wouldn't have gotten.
As always, any questions or grievences can be taken up either with Andrew or myself.
