Three Little Pigs 'could be offensive'

A CHILDREN'S book based on the classic tale of the Three Little Pigs has been rejected for an award amid fears it could offend Muslims.

Judges for the Bett Awards criticised the animated virtual book, The Three Little Cowboy Builders, saying its use of pigs as the main characters raised "cultural issues".

They also believed the book could offend builders.

"Is it true that all builders are cowboys, builders get their work blown down, and builders are like pigs," the judges wrote.

I suppose everyone interprets literature differently but it reminds me of the whole "Baa Baa Black Sheep" outcry a couple of years ago.

Was that a racial issue?

It was indeed. There was a pre-school in England that insisted on changing it to "Rainbow Sheep" on the grounds that "black sheep" was racist, which it could conceivably be if taken wildly out of context but to me at least seemed to be reading far too much into a nursery rhyme that simply referred to a real animal...presumably because "Baa Baa Black Sheep" flows a little smoother than "white sheep" or "little sheep" or "woolly sheep" or something similar.

They have tried similar in numerous places. I do not see why muslims would find it offensive.

SPOILER ALERT
The wolf doesn't actually eat the pigs in modern versions.

It is likely more, the "culture police", ban it because they think muslims might be offended by it as they have no real understanding of other cultures. And they are scared to death of being killed.

Of course, this was simply a book not being chosen for an award, and awards people can use whatever insane logic they want to deny awards.
