Hey,
Looking for some potential General Managers for an online league that is run using Gary Gorski's Total Pro Basketball 2005 and his Draft Day Sports: Pro Basketball game. This league has been running for years now. About 5 if memory is correct so it is around for the long haul.
Just an explanation for those who don't know exactly what this is. This is an online league where you become the GM of a team. Similar to how we play NBA Live and 2k8 games except here, each GM is an actual person. You make trades, set lineups and generally try to win but dealing with people make it all the more interesting. We also have proper player agents where GM's have to negotiate to sign FA's, etc. We try to make it as realistic as possible with draft pick protections and other little features.
It is a really active league. There is something to do everyday of the week (weekends are kept free). Many posts and league articles (power rankings, etc) but we're looking for some more potential GM's.
If you're interested, head to
http://www.nllballers.net and have a look. If you have any other questions, just post them here and I can answer them for you.
It's not like console gaming in the way that if you're good, you can essentially take a bad team and still win. Here, you really need to build your team and deal with different personalities. You might think you offered a good trade but the GM you're dealing with just doesn't see it. Makes it interesting.
Thanks

What is this league all about? I heard that there is a legendary GM handling New Orleans in your league. Is this true?

Why you should be sorry?, This is a nba live forum. It is already hard for nba live leagues to survive with EA making worse games year after year.
I like NLL and i am a former GM but they shouldnt have an announcement in nba-live.com homepage.
Sun Mar 23, 2008 8:14 pm
Being an NBA Live website, the announcements are primarily NBA Live related but given that there are leagues using alternative games/software and they are of interest to people as well, I'll also post them as well since it is community related.
The league announcements are predominantly NBA Live leagues however and I certainly don't want to be unsupportive of them, which is why I'm happy to post them if I'm PM'd or emailed or an announcement is posted here. However, if a league using other software posts here - which is not against the rules - I'll tend to post an announcements as a courtesy. I was simply apologising for neglecting to extend that courtesy when the original notice was posted.

Ok, i think it is fine for them to post in the Community Switchboard.
What i find wrong is the announcement in the wrong page.
Some people might be interested but i doubt most people that enter the site care about Karposky or whoever made that game.
Moreover, this is not a win-win situation.
NLL used to be the nba live league but if you look around you wont find a single link that directs you to nba-live.com, nbalive.com or anything related.

I do see where you're coming from and I'm sorry that you seem offended by it but as I said, I'll generally consider posting leagues that use other software as a courtesy and it may be of interest to some visitors. It's certainly not my aim to put down or be unsupportive of NBA Live leagues as I'm more than happy to post notices on their behalf though I try to remain neutral as it wouldn't be fair to promote one league over another. We do have some non-NBA Live content every now and again, though usually it's somehow related to NBA Live, the NBA or our coverage of the NBA Live series.
I see your point though and it is well-taken. It is something I'll keep in mind but I would like to stress that there is nothing malicious in past decisions to post non-NBA Live content nor was it meant to snub any NBA Live leagues or any other endeavours in the NBA Live community.

Ok, i respect that. Just thought i needed to say something.

Sorry Andrew. As I said in the original email though, no problem if you can't advertise on the site. That still applies.
Anyway, just bumping this. We are currently in the playoffs and looking for some active GM's. One's that can take a mould the team through the offseason and into the regular season.
If you love basketball or managing against other competitve GM's, sign up at the application thread in the membership forum.

Hi guys,
We are on a recruitment drive and looking for new GM's to shift out some of the slackers.
Remember, this is different to an NBA Live or NKB 2k game. You are dealing with 29 other real people when working deals. We also have a lot more systems in place such as draft pick protection, FA systems, a financial system to make everything life like and so that super teams can't be built.
Check it out at
http://www.nllballers.net. Sign up and have a look around. Any questions, please let me know.

Just an update guys, there are currently three teams which we are accepting applications for. They are;
Sacramento Kings - Not often does a team of this caliber present itself for a new GM to take over. With reigning (and looking like a repeat) MVP Kobe Bryant, Elton Brand, and the newest King, Shaq, Sacramento are dominating the Western conference. Already tipped as a red-hot favourite for the Western title, the Kings need a GM to get them there.
Toronto Raptors - Former Eastern powerhouse in desperate need of a dedicated GM. A playoff-capable team which has fallen short this season, and age is not on their side. A great project for a new GM to put his stamp on the league with a rebuild. Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce are the big names from Toronto, so there are plenty of assets to work with.
Atlanta Hawks - Playoff-bound squad with an exciting lineup. They are probably one good big man away from pushing into the championship ranks. Led by the likes of Peja and Tony Parker, the team is ready now and for the future.

We're in the midst of a GM crackdown at the NLL, and we've brought in a few new faces (including some from the NLSC). In the past week, we've introduced 4 GMs to the Raptors, Kings, Heat and Timberwolves. We're constantly on the look-out for new GMs to bring in, even if their are no vacant positions.
Due to the high standards of the NLL, we are always assessing GM activity, so come register and prove to us you deserve a team over someone that is lagging behind.
Be sure to email me at
carmelo15@nllballers.net to prove that you are in fact, a human...
