I absolutely love this game. Best single player experience I've ever had in a FPS and online is pretty satisfying. Only thing wrong with it is that you can't mute people on the PS3 version, which hopefully will be fixed in an update.
Anyways just talk about experiences you've had with the game, good games, cool kills, weird deaths etc.
I had a 3rd spare and came home for lunch one day and played for maybe 35 minutes. In that time i played 3 ground war matches. One i went 35 and 21 which doesnt sound very impressive, but i did get a 19 kill streak to tie my all time highest streak. The next I went 38 and 9 and got 3 helicopters and then the last one I just sniped alot, i forget how many kills i had, but i had 4 deaths and at least a couple heli's. In 35 minutes I had like 6 or 7 helicopters in total, and was pretty pumped.

Have either of you played CoD 2 or 3? It's so alarmingly similar from what I've seen that I can't believe it's as well-reviewed as it is.
Sat Dec 08, 2007 6:52 pm
But it's set in modern times!
And Call of Duty 2 was also well-reviewed...despite, well, you know...
And what? Call of Duty 3? They never made a 3. What are you talking about? NO! THEY DID NOT MAKE A 3! STOP! *LALALALALALA*

Me and my friend played the multiplayer game into the prestige mode and then lost interest... the best kill streak was 21, that was the best

since we started to play the game as soon it dropped, everyone was running into claymores.

What are you talking about? It sounds like you haven't played much of 4 at all. 4 is a huge leap for FPS in general, not just COD. The realism is unbelievable in so many aspects.

Um, no. The Call of Duty series is hardly "realistic". It's cinematic arcade. Play Operation Flashpoint or Red Orchestra plz.
Four is basically Two in a modern setting with upgraded graphics and physics, while Two was One with upgraded graphics and level design.
It's a fun ride, and a good game (8/10...4 stars...etc.), but hardly revolutionary. As everyone will come to realize in the months to come, as they did with Call of Duty 2.
Let me know when they remove the re-spawn waves, give the game some AI beyond "shoot at the player!!!!!!", and make the guns not feel goofy. (Especially anything automatic.)
I am, of course, only talking about the single player.

I haven't played any of 4, because it looks like the modern version of CoD 2, and I seriously laughed out loud at the realism comment.

I've played # 4 extensively. There are some significant problems in the campaign.
Number 1: You are not in charge of your squad, but yet they essentially follow you. This is a huge problem when playing on veteran. You don't receive any cover fire and you get mauled down left right and centre. Plenty of times I would die in the ultimatium stage only to see the old guy with the mustache hiding behind cover doing nothing! Considering thats where your trying to avoid numerous nuclear explosions from happening and thats the kind of leadership you'd expect here at NLSC...
Number 2: The enemy AI almost exclusively goes only after your guy. Why? If this was a war I don't think they would be concerned with only one guy. And sure it makes it harder, but there goes the "realism".
Number 3: The storyline is just ridiculous. So America is about to receive 4 nuclear bombs on the East Coast and they send a squad of 10 guys into Russia? Riiiight. Plus the one shot one kill mission killed momentum. You're backtracking 15 years.
Number 4: The multiplayer. They fucked it. Badly. Who was the genius to give power ups to more experienced players? Wow.. If you've ever played and seen 3 guys on one team with helicopters flying around will know what I'm talking about.

I agree on all points here. The presentation is the one players should thank, not the realism, which isn't quite there, especially with automatic guns. I also got bored of the multiplayer since it's pretty painful to get back at guys when helicopters are flying around.
While it is one of the best fps games around, it isn't much different from other games, it's just better and more fun, but it certainly isn't that realistic.

I'm thinking about getting this game but i already have Halo 3. My friend says that if you already have Halo, don't bother getting COD 4 but I've seen the reviews and i'm convinced.
Is it worth getting?
Fri Dec 14, 2007 8:48 am
It is worth trying, especially for people that like modern military action.

Play Operation Flashpoint or Red Orchestra plz.
I agree with that 100%. That was the best and most realistic war game I have ever played. Well, I've never fought in an actual war, but it made every other war game feel more arcade. Too bad I never got around to playing Red Orchestra and I've been too spoiled by graphics to ever get back into it. It was fun killing friendlies and going awol/rogue all over the island and finding a helicopter and just flying around blasting whatever vehicles and infantry I came across.
I'll definitely be checking it out.

Ahhhh, Saturday I will finally be able to play this game. I've been out of town going on 6 months so I haven't purchased an Xbox 360 but now I get to play it. Everyone I talked to said this game is insane.....I'm looking forward to it!
