The key to Madden, especially with the O Line Dallas has, is to establish the run, keep an eye on ya feature backs energy levels, sub in Jones or Barber (depending on who you are starting... bearing in mind that Barber is more power and good for straight ahead, and jones is speed, good for the sideways running) for a fresh legs.

Once you have established the running game, add some short passing plays in the mix, and also try some play action. Play action only works well once the run has been established. Don't look for the big pass too often... you'll find yourself getting picked off... and try to use plays with checkdown backs in the flat just to give you an escape clause... and beware the blitz - you see the CBs blitzing pass it to ya back in the flat straight away... should be an easy first down.

Also warm your QB up with some easy pass plays, WR 10 yard hook plays can be effective, especially to Owens. You'll find Glenn can catch those short ones pretty easy too.

You'll find plays where witten cuts towards the sideline can be effective too, he should out catch most CB or safeties that cover him... just don't fire it in too hard, loft it up a little bit but only in 1 on 1 coverage. Reading the coverage is going to be the key to passing...

As you're new to Madden it takes time to develop a perception of everything. To be able to see the pass rushers and the coverage and find the open man. When all else fails, run your heart out - you have two champ backs who can do that for you. Don't forget to throw in the odd running play for your full back.
