With the club less than six months old and a full twenty-seven man playing squad yet to gel, an away game against Chelsea was probably not the easiest task the Beavers could have faced in their EPL opener but they acquitted themselves well. Alex and Andriy Shevchenko gave the London giants a solid two goal lead before half time and despite an injury time consolation goal to Roy Makaay, Barncore struggled to crack the water-tight defence lead by John Terry. Another away game followed against West Ham which saw Guti give Barncore the lead after just six minutes, this was cancelled out by Dean Ashton shortly before half time and the game ended in a draw, giving United their first ever EPL points. Coming up against fellow NLSC side Iquique in their third road game in a row would prove to be just as much of a struggle, albeit an entertaining one. David Beckham's early free kick was eventually negated by an impressive Javier Saviola goal, Rafinha put the Dragons ahead with less than five minutes left before man of the match Anatoliy Tymoschuk managed a last-gasp goal to bring the game to an exciting close. Whilst Barncore is currently the worst placed of the NLSC teams in the EPL, they have been impressive in all of their outings and so far have managed to avoid the injury and player dramas that some other clubs have faced, once this veteran team gels and re-adjusts to the pace of the Premiership they may surprise quite a few people.

Dunedin's charge in the EPL got off to a flyer at home to Harry Redknapp's Portsmouth. Before most of the home fans even had a chance to take their seats, Arjen Robben gave the Bombers an early lead through a series of nicely placed passes, orchestrated by Andres Iniesta. The game slowed down there after as Dunedin clung to their lead all the way through half time, until Valon Behrami put the result out of Portsmouth's reach with a nicely taken goal on the seventy-sixth minute. Despite the overall blandness of their first victory, this was definitely not to be repeated against fellow NLSC newcomers Peninsula as a healthy crowd witnessed the two teams trading goal after goal the entire game. The home side put themselves ahead early through Hernan Crespo, this however was quickly cancelled out by Dunedin's Jose Antonio Reyes. Going into half time one goal a piece, super-sub Amauri put the Pirates into the lead almost instantly after the break though the celebrations were short lived after Alberto Gilardino equalised yet again under a minute later. The small Dunedin contingent went into raptures with three minutes remaining after a Sergio Ramos own goal gifted them a three-two lead, but an unlikely away victory was not to be when with under a minute remaining in regular time Amauri once again scored to wrap up an enthralling draw. Allan Johnston's last second own goal in a one goal affair at home against Aston Villa wrapped up what was a more than successful debut month for the Bombers.

Having been billed as possibly the best, and by far most attacking NLSC side in the EPL, Iquique were quick to prove these claims with a comprehensive three-nil thumping at home against Aston Villa. The home side left it late to put their first goal on the board, and it was through an Aston Villa player with Gary Cahill's sixty-fifth minute own goal giving the Dragons a one-nil advantage. With five minutes remaining, Iquique put on the after burners and blitzed the Villains with late goals to Matias Fernandez and the impressive Rafinha. The second of three straight home games saw a much tougher challenge, with David Beckham putting Barncore up after just seven minutes. Javier Saviola restored order and brought the scores level before half time, before Rafinha's second goal in as many matches gave Iquique what should have been it's second win in a row. Barncore refused to lie down however, and Anatoliy Tymoschuk silenced what had been a deafening crowd with his last second goal securing an unimpressive draw. Blackburn would prove to be a reasonably easier assignment, Javier Saviola's impressive showings continued as he put the Dragons ahead after just nine minutes. Benni McCarthy equalised ten minutes later, but it was Iquique who came out firing after half time, Luca Toni scored his first league goal on fifty-eight minutes before Javier Saviola grabbed his second of the game not long before full time. A Brett Emerton consolation goal in injury time buffered the score somewhat, but in reality it was a game dominated by Wanderley Luxemburgo's side.

Peninsula's road to the EPL crown has been one of up's and downs. One of those downs was the debut away game against Newcastle. With their confidence levels high, the Pirates were brought down to Earth with a thud as two second half goals from Michael Owen gave the home side an easy victory. Still hurting from their debut baptism of fire, a home match to fellow newcomers Dunedin gave Peninsula the opportunity to give the home fans something worth cheering about, and that they did. Hernan Crespo scored the club's official first goal in the twelth minute, and though Jose Antonio Reyes responded before half time for Dunedin it was an unlikely hero who's name the fans were chanting. Despite being projected to not even land on an NLSC team, Amauri came off the bench for Peninsula and put them ahead on the fifty second minute and when it looked asthough Dunedin may have done enough to resign Peninsula to their second straight defeat, it was Amauri again who popped up and equalized in the very last minute of play in what was an extremely entertaining match-up. Still chasing their first victory, the Pirates were on the road to yet another NLSC team in Wiltshire. Prized recruit Ricardo Quaresma put Peninsula ahead on the stroke of half time, before Vicente drew level for the home side with less than ten minutes to go. Heading for another draw and an unimpressive start to their campaign, Amauri once again was the hero as he came off the bench to grab an injury time winner and give Peninsula their first ever EPL victory.

With the media predicting a lower-end of the table finish for the Black Griffins, a home clash with Premiership title contenders Liverpool was the perfect opportunity to show exactly where the club is heading. After a fairly drab opening half, it ended with a bang as young wonderkid Lucas put the Merseyside club ahead with a stunning free kick right on the stroke of half time. Another twenty five minutes passed before the next goal, as Liverpool took their foot off the gas and Antonio Cassano capitalized with a sixty-ninth minute equalizer. The Battlement looked more like a battle ground towards the end of injury time when Brazilian substitute Fred scored to give Solihull a shock two-one victory over the much more fancied Liverpool. The mood couldn't have been higher within the club, until Tottenham absolutely demolished it with a four-nil thrashing at home. Steed Malbranque's first minute opener set the tone, Dimitar Berbatov proving completely unstoppable with a goal in the thirty-seventh minute and another two after half time as Solihull were sent crashing down to Earth. Returning home against Portsmouth, the Black Griffins had a chance to re-gain some of the fans lost faith and did it fairly unconvincingly. An even opening half was ended by an impressive Juan Roman Riquelme strike, and despite having plenty of attempts in the second just couldn't convert possibly due to the untimely injuries to starting strike duo Adrian Mutu and Antonio Cassano who both missed the games against Spurs and Portsmouth.

Wiltshire's form in the early friendly matches suggested they may unfortunately become the easy-beats of the NLSC teams in the EPL, and the shock departure of Bastian Schweinsteiger on loan back to Bayern made their chances of success even slimmer. This theory was quickly destroyed in their debut home game against Tottenham, Juninho Pernambucano scoring a fantastic free kick and giving the Warriors the lead within a minute of kick off. Another late pick in Turkish international Nihat put the game even further outside of Tottenham's reach not long after half time when his strike made it two-nil. Not to be outdone, yet a third late round pick wrapped up the game completely as Luis Figo finished from a supert Juninho through ball. Portsmouth seem to be the team of choice to beat for the NLSC contingent, and Wiltshire continued the tradition as Lukas Podolski's late second half goal gave them a slim one-nil victory away at Fratton Park. Coming up against an out of sorts Peninsula outfit at home seems like an easy task on paper, but the Pirates were determined to kick start their own season and looked to be heading that way after Ricardo Quaresma put them in the lead on half time. Vicente's eighty-second minute goal looked to be enough to guarantee the points, but super-sub Amauri broke the Warriors hearts right on full time when his goal sent Wiltshire down for the count. Despite Bastian Schweinsteiger's departure, Wiltshire have surprised their critics early on and look a far stronger side than was originally imagined.

There were plenty of outgoing loans before the EPL began, Solihull sent their young strike trio of Falcao, Ramon and Yannick Djalo out while Iquique and Dunedin both loaned some young future superstars in the hopes of getting them some much needed first team action. The biggest shock came from Wiltshire, as first round pick Bastian Schweinsteiger's home sickness was too much for him to handle and he was sent back to former club FC Bayern until the end of June.
Dunedin:
Oscar Ustari joins Derby on loan
Iquique:
Omar Esparza joins Ipswich on loan
Cristian Abarca joins Gillingham on loan
Solihull:

Yannick Djalo joins Sheffield Wednesday on loan
Wiltshire:

Solihull have suffered the most of all EPL teams, injuries to two of their three goalkeepers and also both starting strikers worrying the club and forcing them to make plenty of personell adjustments. The most worrying injury however, is to Dunedin's star striker Alberto Gilardino who will be out for another two months with a torn hamstring. Whether or not Felipao's men can maintain their goalscoring without him will remain to be seen.
