BBCodes for sigs.

Other video games, TV shows, movies, general chit-chat...this is an all-purpose off-topic board where you can talk about anything that doesn't have its own dedicated section.

BBCodes for sigs.

Why is the BBCode which was previously enabled for the signatures now turned off?

Did Jackal & me miss something?

I don't think it matters. It's been like that ever since I came here and it works fine for me when I type in BBCodes.

It matters given it doesn't let me change my profile. It works for you in your sig?

Plus it's not always been like this, then again you said since you came...

This is what I type in my sig...

I haven't been here too long, so I wouldn't know what it was like before. I don't get what you mean by "it doesn't let me change my profile"?

Some BBCodes like:

Code: Select all
[b] TEXT [/b] and

[i] TEXT [/i]

are disabled on sigs.

So if you wouldn't know, why are you talking about it? As Lean said, some of the BBCodes like Bold, Underline and Italics don't work.

What I mean by "it won't let me update my profile" is just what it says. It won't let me update my profile. Since I seem to be talking gibberish, let me break it down.

It's a lonely day in Jackal world and Jackal decides to spicen up his internet sex life by updating his profile on the NLSC to look uber cool. Jackal gets a rock hard erection and wanders off in to the NLSC Profile Page. There Jackal substitutes his current signature with an amazing and accurate look a like of his penis which he likes to refer to as "Willie". So first comes the nuts, right? 8. Ooh. Then the length. == (Yes, that's how little it is.) Then the tip. > Gosh it's pointy.

8==>

Hihi, penis he says to himself. But...since he doesn't work out his penis in the gym, the penis is fat. :( He wants to be as true as possible so he decides to BOLD it. [b ]8==>[/ b]

Haha, penis. Proceed to update button.

Eek, what's this he says? No fat penis allowed? No bolding allowed in the profile? What's this? Oh woo is me, now Jackal would have to settle with a thin penis? Never. Such injustice shall not befall on the beautiful internet home he refers to as the NLSC. Off he rushes to the NLSC Issues section to ask the mighty people in power why the BBCodes are disabled. Instead of the answer, he gets a fairy telling him he doesn't get what he means and he doesn't know how it was before. Oh glee. Jackal then proceeds to hop around with his e-penis in his hand and decides to commit suicide by jumping off the balcony twice. Given the balcony isn't high enough, he's forced to jump twice. Dying 50% each time.

And everyone lived their miserable lives happily ever after worrying about meaningless, trivial bullshit like BBCodes.

No use going on too much about it...except for the fact that I talked about it cause I has worked for me in the time I am a member (I had no idea you meant some BBCodes and not all of them in general). If you be a bit more specific next time, I'll stay out of your way.

Is fairy supposed to be a complement? I suppose not...

I'm using BBCode in my signature without any hassles (including the bold and size tags) and as far as I can see it's enabled; I certainly haven't disabled it. I'll look into it and see if I can find out what's going on.

Thinking it could've been a one time glitch, I decided to give it another shot.

I just went to my profile and skipped down and pressed "Update" without changing anything. I got this:

It happened to me last week, I didn't change anything but my custom title, then that exact message on the image Jackal posted appeared after I pressed the "Submit" button.

Is your "Andrew" account in the "admin" class Andrew? If so, the restrictions may not apply to it. Past versions of phpbb followed this.

You may have to enable bbcode tags for them to be allowed, I'm pretty sure you have to enable html. They are probably disabled by default to close some security holes.

I haven't worked with phpbb in over a year now, so I may be completely wrong with this.

That's certainly a possibility...as far as I can see everything's still enabled though. I'll keep looking.

mine have been off for a long time now. that's the reason why I don't have a picture in my sig and haven't had it in months. one day I tried to change my sig picture and then it showed up as url http://www. etc etc.jpg /url. you get used to it. unless.... there is a way to fix it, i would be happy with the change. I think Shadow has the same problem.

It's possible we missed something when we were updating the forum skin, I'll check that out too.

I concur.
Good to know that the 'problem' has been given sufficient attention.

It's looking like a problem with the new forum design, most likely some code for the sig control hack has been missed. Still working on it. I hadn't noticed it until it was pointed out because I haven't changed my signature in a while.

Strange that it would disappear just like that. But yea, it's not available in the profile for anyone, and I don't know why.
What's even stranger is that I didn't edit any files when this happened.. Oh well, I might just redo the forum design from scratch if I can't find where the problem lies..

Strange that only Jackal's sig disappeared .

Since I looked around the forums and most of the people still have their sigs.

For all we know Jackal might have pulled a fast one on us.

I thought the disappearance of Jackal's sig was a prank by new co-admin.

Jae, I hope you know that now that everything that seems out of place and/or broken will be assumed that you did it.
