Question about music on a 360...

Postby Dro on Fri Jul 06, 2007 3:21 am

My 360 won't let me save playlists because:

"Saved playlists can only contain songs from the hard drive"

So how do I go about saving songs to my 360's hard drive?

Any help is appreciated.

Im not too sure because ive never done it, but i think the only way is to put a cd in the xbox 360 and rip the songs off that. Now it can be a real cd or made cd i believe.

I should've mentioned that I did put in a cdrw with 120 songs on it and the 360 plays the songs perfectly. But I don't know what to do from there. When I try to put the songs from the cdrw onto a playlist and I try to save the playlist, it gives me that error.

I put in a cd and it went to a screen that showed the list of songs and visual while playing, or just put play disc and there should be an option to "rip disc" above the graphics part. Just look at this screen. Sorry i didnt have a CD-R or CD-RW to try.

Ah ok, I noticed it doesn't have the Rip CD thing when you put in a CD-R. Bummer...but hey, I still got a ton of regular CDs I can rip :)

Thanks a bunch for the help bro that screenshot really helped.

it might help if you play the song. Or just burn a cd as a music cd instead of a mp3 data cd.

How would I go about doing that? Maybe save the songs as .wmv?

well instead of making a data cd where you can fit like 14 albums on it(folders filled with MP3 files), just make a music cd that would take up the 80 minutes or so. You probably would have to use a CD-R though. I have "roxio easy cd creator 5". With that i can make data or music cd's. Im not sure about MWV files.

If you dont wanna download or buy any programs, you can burn a CD in Media Player depending on what version.. Theres a tab next to library, now playing, rip and stuff saying Burn.. then you just drag the songs you want on

Can WMP burn a CD as an audio CD instead of a data CD? I tried downloading that roxio program from download.com but it gave me an error...weird.

Well, you could just make a playlist on your iPod before hand. But, since you can't copy songs from your iPod, you can't make a playlist on the 360.

Yeah, that's the problem. I'm trying to rip the songs onto the 360's hard drive so I can listen to my songs while I play games.

I couldn't figure out how...unless my Ipod is connected to my Xbox while I play, I suppose? I didn't even think of trying that, maybe that's the best way.

I did get a lot of my songs onto my 360 by burning an audio CD in Windows Media Player and it worked perfectly. Thanks Young Buck, Dean and others for the help.
