Billy Madison or Happy Gilmore?

Postby Nick on Sat Mar 22, 2003 11:19 pm

If you're in Autralia, VIC or NSW then you would've been able to see that channel 10 had a Adam Sandler double... the two movies, "Billy Madison" and "Happy Gilmore" were played back to back :D...

Which is the better movie of these two BLOCKBUSTERS? I personally would go for Happy Gilmore...

I can't decide. Channel Ten have shown them so many times...I'd have to say they're about equal. It seems nearly every Adam Sandler movie is about a character who is immature and irresponsible, forced to behave, while at the same time meeting a girl who isn't interested in him, but will eventually fall for him. And yet, they're enjoyable movies. :)

So much for formulaic being boring.

Yeah, Andrew you're right. :D
There's always that girl who isn't interested to begin with...then ends up falling in love... other examples: Big Daddy...(with that ugly ho...) um... Mr. Deeds... Little Nicky (although that was a bit of a different role...a bit) ...The wedding singer? was that sandler in that one? yeah.
Haha.

I prefer Billy Madison...it paved the way for the "virtually retarded guy gets hot girl and money" story that Sandler has perfected to........um.....something. Plust the girl's hotter in Billy Madison (Y)

The new movie with Jack Nicholson, Anger Management actually doesn't look to follow that story line.

Neither did Bulletproof...actually, that wasn't really your average Adam Sandler or Damon Wayans movie, except for a couple of the jokes. An if this was an English lesson, I would say that the way he character matured in Big Daddy represented the way in which his films have also matured while retaining an element of immaturity and wackiness (yes, back in high school my English teacher would have you believe - and analyse - everything and anything ).

In reality, Adam Sandler has made a fair bit of money to say the least (Happy Madison Productions probably provides him with a nice income, since they don't just produce his movies), so he can afford to try something that doesn't seem "Sandler-like". :)
