I considered eBay but ended up getting one second hand from EB Games since they offered their own 12 month warranty on it.

EB Games; they were selling it for $549. They were advertising new consoles at $618, most other places like K-Mart and Target were in that price range as well.

THey're already out here in the States, and I gotta say for another $80 US for a bigger HD drive and an HDMI slot isn't a big draw for me. It's pretty much their answer to the PS3.

Fitzy, they're not going down in price until the Xbox540 comes out. they're already losing money on every console sale right now.

Precisely. I wonder how much time it takes to bring it here. Hopefully not as long as the ps3 release

The one I bought was second hand with a 12 month warranty. I'd say it depends on whether the store has any second hand trade-ins and what they want to charge for it. A new console is still around $600. They're having a sale at EB starting June 1st (this Friday), perhaps they'll have the consoles at a reduced price. I know a lot of the games will be marked down.

I think you can pick them up at $550 new at some places. Check here.

It mentions the pro model around that price, which is a bargain. Hope that helps, especially if you can get a newie at that price! :)

When i got my 360 1-2 months ago, i just pulled out the white pages and rang all the local stores like JB Hi Fi, Big W, K-Mart, Myer, EB, Dick Smith Powerhouse, Video Games World and Harvey Norman. I rang and asked for prices of the Pro Console, wireless controllers, xbox live etc. and got all the best prices, went into EB and said match it all  and they did, they matched a wireless controller for $54.95 at Big W, when they were selling them for $79.95  I saved tonnes in the end...
There's a huge difference in prices, so i'd ring around (Y)

I was really confused why you have to pay so much more in Australia then here untill I remembered that the currency is different.

i wouldnt consider buying from EB cos i heard their consoles are most likely to have the three rings of doom for some reason, at least 4 people i know who brought it from EB all got the three rings and this is like the beginning of this year.

I got mine from JB hifi and havent had a problem since, got it about 7 months ago at 600 and probably worth the money in the end.

I think that's the rings that you see on your discs when your 360 eats your games. Sure, Bill Gates will fix it as long as it's still under warranty, but they won't do anything about your games. Those were really common in the first batch of 360s that came off the assembly line. Those people realized that and, as a result, traded them into EB.

I've just got my 360....how do you connect it to your computer/internet?

Edit: I just re-read the set-up manual and it said that the USB cable is not provided.

so I'm assuming you are not interested in buying a 360 off me?!? ahh well, a pm would've been nice to let me know  I'll just sell on ebay I guess....

as for internet connection, you should have a usb to ethernet cable with your premium 360 that you purchased....connect the ethernet connection into the back of your broadband modem & Bob's your uncle....you won't be able to use computer internet & 360 Live at same time this way....you have to set it up differently, but I don't know that way....

too true....I bought a 360 back in June....no 3 red lights of doom, but it was scratching the hell out of games....fortunately I noticed it within a day as I always check games, so I took back 360 & scratched games, & got them replaced with new ones....my current (soon to be sold) 360 hasn't scratched one game at all....it's a good one....shame, a big portion of them are not, including my sister's boyfriends one, which they got quite a few months after me....
