Russian Basketball Association baned mod for Live 07

Russian Live players and patchers made RBL mod (Russian Basketball League mod) and make it free to download for anyone on nbalive.slamdunk.ru site! but a week later they've resieved e-mail from league with order to delete this mod from internet accessability and even info bout that patch from web sites of Russian Basball teams: CSKA, Dynamo, Khimki, Unicks... our league is sucks! i'd never watch Russian Basketball Championship

Is there any law that can forbid to release a patch that does not seek profit? I don't think they can do it. I think it should be uploaded to another web site, as Pdub pointed out, probably in US, so that Russians couldn't do anything. Yet again, who knows - perhaps these kind of patches are foridden in Russia.

Damn thats just wrong ,IMO the patchers are doing a favour to the RBA ,because they are promoting it with the patch.Oh well,there loss I suppose.

In other news,Euroleague 06 (the mod for live 06 ) was found selling for 20 dollars on a site similliar to eBay. .....And no , I'm not bullshiting .

I believe the law is on their side since patches are made without obtaining licensing rights. It's an odd move though, especially since the mod isn't being sold for profit. If anything it gives the league more exposure at no cost.

Not only! They explain that we have't got the rights to use RBA and Russian Superleague logotypes in the mod. I try to make them understand that we haven't got any type of profit from our work and there are a lot of other patchers from other countries who work hard with their own country basketball league mods.....and no disagreements appeared.

there absolutely no need for that! here is a link of all the files that excist in that site, if you reach a page like this-index of files related to that site! they probebly delated only the link in the main pages of the site but the files itslef remained in their server:

But in the United States, the reason the NBA and EA never come after the patchers is it's entirely stupid. It would cost them more in legal fees than they would ever be able to squeeze from us, especially since we don't make any money off the stuff.

well, there were many files there(also the rbl roster for 2007)yesterday when i wrote the post, but now they just blocked the enterence for the ftp page server after my post! i only managed to download the roster rbl in winrar file and i was surprised to see that now there is an announcement that the page is forbidden-before i managed to download the other stuff i was intending to in the mourning. so they probebly had something to hide. if anyone wants i'll upload the rbl roster to something like sendspace and if anyone wants it he can send me a private massege and i'll send hime the url.
