well I recently got re-addicted to this amazing game.
I backed it up to my modded XBox, and FTP'd it so I can access and edit the files.
Some of the files I'm familiar with because of NBA Live (.viv) but others I have no idea what tools to use.
Can anybody help me out? Here are some of the file extensions-
.bin
.adf
and
.mpf
anyone?

I think there's a few people that's interested in this game... you'll get a response. Soon.

It would be so awesome if I could find a way to tweak the rosters and/or edit the music and/or edit the jerseys and/or add cyberfaces.
That's all it needs. Would be sick.

me Tuomas just had a pretty big discussion about this. seems like the PS2 files are the same which is weird. But there are no known ways to edit any of those thru NBA Live means. Although the audio is the same as our current formats.
I looked at the hex of the players.dbf "XDBPLYR.ADF" and its nothing special. Just lists all the player's names near the end of the file.

is there any way to maybe edit the ratings?
also, I tried importing new music, but it's all corrupted when playing in-game

Yea this is a wet dream of mine, imagine updating the rosters and cyberfaces, jerseys etc.
How would the modding work? I mean it loads the whole game from the dvd?

Not for me.
The whole game is backed up on my XBox's hard drive.
I don't need the disc to run it (it runs off the hard drive), and I can edit the files from my PC as I please.
Also, the load times are practically instant.
EDIT:

well i am almost 100% sure all art is in the XF folder (in v3 that is where it is all stored) I just dont know how to open some of the ones that aren't .viv's

Yeah, that seems to be where all the court .viv's are, there are also 5 files with no file extension... "xf000001"-"xf000004"
But inside the court .viv's there are a few ".xsh" files (that cane be opened with FshEd) and a few .o files, and 1 .bin file.
I have no idea where the jersey/cyberface files would be located... hm..

my guess is in the xf000001, just add a .viv behind it and see if you can open it.

Tried .fsh, nothing
Tried .viv and a new window pops up in EAGE that says "EAChild" but is blank.
Tried opening it in bigGUI but nothing.
damn, wtf is this file?
EDIT: woops, that was xf000007 h/o I'll try 1
EDIT EDIT:
Ok, I tried, 1, opened it in EAGE, i get a bunch of files on the left (like say I opened xteam.viv from Live 03) but there all untitled (just a blank) and when I try to open it in EAGE, it tells me it's an unknown format and to view it as a hexadecimal.
Ok, so I extracted the top one from the .viv, opened it in FshED and this is what I got-
OMFG
will update later
also,
LOL ANOTHER EDIT:
ok, thsi game is basically cracked, I found every texture in the game.
Cyberfaces (which are really, REALLY good), Jerseys (every player has their own jersey), Legends, you name it.
Now just to hack the damn roster.
"SOMEBODY ELSE POST" EDIT:
Ball texture hacked
I replaced the default ball texture with this (unused) ball texture-
and it showed up in-game
Planning on replacing the default ball with the 2006 "new" ball (even tohugh it's no longer used)

(damn nmz is down aghh)
Thu Mar 29, 2007 1:35 am
GAAAHAHAH IM CHOKKING!!

fgraha
GODDAMN
ok... whoa, I got the new Redman album today, yesterday got a job for the summer already, and now someone cracked NBA Street 2???
I need to mod my xbox now, so I can put my hands on that game. Any advice?
If I get there I'll friggin mod the whole game over!
edit. Can you post a cyberface? Man, all the possibilities... I think my pulse just doubled. Gotta calm down.
Thu Mar 29, 2007 4:40 am
heh that's pretty cool. if i wasn't a playstation guy, I'd be a little more happy, but eh what can you do.
we've said this before... we'd rather play an updated Street 2 than V3 and maybe even Homecourt.
i can help you deal with updating the roster if you need it.
Thu Mar 29, 2007 4:57 am
as soon as i get home from school I'll answer all the questions.
roster is hard as fuck to crack though, as it's in .adf format >_<
Thu Mar 29, 2007 5:28 am
I'm really hyped about this... so please be fast
The first thing I'd like to replace are the horrible generic gear and shoes to real life stuff
Thu Mar 29, 2007 6:22 am
Ok, questions you probably want answered-
1. Yes, I have access to every texture in the game now. Courts, Legends, All Jerseys, Players, whatever.
2. Ok, to replace most of those textures (ie- Jerseys, Legends, And Faces) it seems to be REALLY hard, because they are all somehow unnamed when in the .viv. It's quite wierd.
3. The roster at this point seems un-hackable, because they are in this unknown .adf format. Gay
4. um... annything else?
Thu Mar 29, 2007 6:41 am
Nah, no more words, we need more action
Can you take a screenshot of a cyberface and/or a view of the file listing inside a .viv file?
Thu Mar 29, 2007 6:55 am
well, the .viv that contains all the cyberfaces and jerseys look like this-
See what I mean? there no file names.
Cyberfaces look like this-
Thu Mar 29, 2007 7:19 am
looks like the same style as the NBA Live 98 cyberfaces.
Thu Mar 29, 2007 7:21 am
Those viv files definetly can be frustrating

but cyberfaces, that's a straight Live 2001 import, better than 2003 though. The cyberfaces could be copy/pasted straight from 2001/2003 I reckon.
Thu Mar 29, 2007 7:24 am
so, anybody have ANY idea how to get past this "no name" .viv problem?
is there another tool besides EAGE to edit .viv?
Thu Mar 29, 2007 8:26 am
EAPatch? GFXtool? Those we used for Live 2001 and older, but those aren't for browsing, mainly exporting.
Thu Mar 29, 2007 10:05 am
Can you open it in dolffin?
Thu Mar 29, 2007 12:33 pm
nope
