American Idol Talk

Does anyone on here watch American Idol? I personally am a pretty big fan. This is the first season I have ever watched it. Anyways, I was just wondering if anyone else around watched it. Let me know what ya all think of the show. Personally, I cannot believe Sanjaya (sp?) is still on the show. Its a effing joke. I've heard better at karaoke bars.

I just watch the bad auditions at the beginning of the season - don't care for the rest. Either way you're probably going to be ridiculed for making this thread.

I watched the 2nd and 3rd seasons and realized how terrible it was in the time since. The reason? All the artists have no creative control after the show. They have to do whatever manufactured pop-crap sony hands them for at least 2 albums i think. If you look at Kelly Clarkson she didnt do anything of note till her 3rd album...Maybe its just my opinion but you would think Sony would put more effort into the albums rather than just counting on the name to cell CDs

I actually watch it. I actually enjoy the auditions more because it's amazing how some people actually think they can sing. Anyway, I think all the guys suck really bad. Sanjaya is a joke, and the only reason he's still in it is because of his hair, the Indian population, and his hot older sister from the audience. Personally, I think that Justin-Timberlake wannabe Chris is sooo freaking overrated, and I'd love to see him booted off. As for the girls, I'd be upset if Melinda Dolittle or Lakisha gets booted off. They are obviously the best ones.

I also forgot to mention...did you guys know theres auditions before the "auditions" we see? its not just random. they dont tell people whether they're good or bad, they just say "ok you're going to the next round" and the people assume its because they're good...its a cold system but hey, they gotta get ratings somehow

It's like the blasphemy of music, the McDonalds of music. Utter bullshit. I wish every person involved in creating, producing, and running the show were shot, and that all the contestants were burnt on the stake.

Now I'm going to listen to some real music to came myself down.

OK, i have to make a statement here. Try to redeem my music credibility i guess. Ty i know your freaking out about how pop and manufactured it is...but have you listened to some of these people sing? Its a talent thats forgotten nowadays and people can make you feel the gammet of emotions with their voice as hendrix did with guitar, flea does with bass etc....Now, to get recognized, they needed a crappy pop show. I admit i want to see Kelly Clarkson and Ruben (the only good ones in my opinion) with creative control. I want to see them sing to their potential and make songs that could potentially be good. The show and the subsequent albums may suck, but the artists dont necessarily. Dont judge so harshly that they would do anything, even suffer through putting out several terrible albums before they get to good ones to reach their dreams...

the auditions are the fun part, its hilarious when they think they can sing, like william hung

i always say its gay at school but yet these people still watch it... i know this girl who is a huge fan and like goes to see the live shows in the states with her mom(we live in canada).
anyways, a friend of mine told me recently that he read somewhere on the internet that american idol is fake and you have to pay like 100 bucks just to participate due to the tv exposure and stuff
