Yakuza

ok so I picked up a fairly new PS2 game called Yakuza. Made by Sega, it's an epic story about a guy in the Yakuza, obviously. This game is ridiculously good and addicting. Fighting in the game is also pretty fun with weapons you can pick up. there are RPG elements for those RPG fans out there... you gain experience in each fight/event so you can upgrade you character's technique or body. At first, iy take some time getting used to the game with weird camera angles, but after you get used to it, it's a very fun game. An in-depth storyline makes this game much better than something like GTA, despite not being able to drive yourself. Tons of mini-games and side missions to keep you busy (batting cages, casino, crane game, etc.). Tons of shops (including pawn shops and stuff like that) to spend your money and buy food & stuff. Plus there are side missions to woo girls at "host bars", which I assume are popular in Japan. Anyways, I'd definitely recommend this game to all adventure/fighting game fans, just check out reviews on IGN and other game sites.

I enjoyed this game... but it took some getting use to. I remember reading G4's review, and they totally tore the game apart.

Man.. I was so close to buying a PS2 just for this game. One of the few major Asian gang titles out there (Y) I hope GTA makes an Asian gang storyline in the future, it's been Mafia and Compton's so far

yeah try getting a PS2 cheap off of ebay... it's definitely worth it if you get Yakuza. This is the best game I've played in a very long time.

soo I jsut finished tha game a few hours ago... now I might finally get some sleep... this is a GREAT GAME

and the American version has some pretty big names in it, as I tried to read the credits as the end.

Mark Hamill (Luke from Star Wars) was in it, along with the guy who played Lex Luther in Smallville, Elisa Dushku, RAchel Leigh Cook, and Michael Madsen. Apparently, a movie is in the works as well as a sequel game to be released in Japan

I remember reading in a gaming publication that Yakuza is currently one of the most expensive games to make, costing approximately 21 million USD to create... so anything less than Awesome would be a let down.

I'm disappointed as well.. but then again, from a business perspective, they'll never make a port and it makes sense. They've already spent so much money on this game, making a port would cost even more, and it wouldn't sell much since most of the time the game would be pirated anyways. I regret not getting a PS2 :(

I see what you are trying to say and I completly agree.Piracy is a big factor when talking about PC games so that could be one of the reasons. So they would lose money over it.Still, its a real shame to not see games like Yakuza,NBA 2k etc on the PC platform.Oh well I might get a PS2 anyways so,I will try to get it.
