Does anyone know of any programs that can record movies that stream from a website?
Preferably free...

VLC or VideoLan player(same thing) can snatch streaming movies without haveing to record/capture them. As long as the file is not an FLV file(Youtube, etc.).

Besides VLC Player, Cocsoft Streamdown also does the job.
