Montreal (Would've Been) Massacre

Thu Sep 14, 2006 9:11 am

A gunman goes into the school and shoots several people. 20 people are injured, and the only death was to the gunman, described as a goth, whom the police shot and killed. Good thing there's no deaths so far, but at least 8 are hospitalized and in critical condition.

I was just going to post this. CBC reports 11 hospitalized, 8 of whom are in critical condition, and that's just at one hospital. I keep hearing eye-witness reports on the radio, it's horrible.

Jeez, that story says one person has now died in hospital. :(

Yeah, I saw the live overage today at around 3:30 - 4:00. It was horrible hearing about 2 strangers just walking into a school and shooting up the place. Wait, or was it just one gunman? Not sure, but it sounded pretty bad.

They still haven't decided on 1 or 2 gunmen. The eye-witnesses say 2, but the police are saying they have found their suspect (the one who was shot), and they're not looking for others.

WOW! I hate hearing about school shootings because they are tragic events that should not happen. I hope everyone makes it out alright and that there are no further deaths. I hope there was only one shooter because I would hate to have a guilty fool get away with murder.

RIP

The alleged gunman in the Montreal college shooting called himself the "Angel of Death" in an online profile, according to Canadian media. Police identified the suspect as Kimveer Gill, 25. He was killed by police after a rampage through Dawson College that left one woman dead and 19 other people injured.

How sad... at least the fatalities have been very low thus far.

After seeing that first picture, I hope Kurt Cobain didn't influence him to be the nutjob that he is :shake:

Man...there are some seriously fucked up people in this world. If only we could find them before they acted. The sad part about these kind of stories is that there are usually warning signs leading up to the events. Obviously, playing the blame game is stupid and doesn't solve anything but perhaps it can teach us something so we can use it for future reference.

Does anyone know how many people have died from this attack? Is it still just that one or have they lost more since then? I would look it up myself but I am too lazy.

I believe so far it's only 2; the girl, and the killer (who killed himself). It seems that the quick response from the police saved many people. During the last Montreal Massacre (1989, Ecole Polyteqnique), the police waited to set up a perimeter before going in. This time, two young officers went in right away and shot the guy as soon as they could, which appears to have saved most of the victims.

i keep reading he killed himself, then i keep reading the police killed him. What actually happened?

Sat Sep 16, 2006 7:28 am

The police killed him. Initially it was said he killed himself, and it was also initially said that four people were killed on the radio in early reports.

Sun Sep 17, 2006 2:31 am

I thought the police shot him in the leg, and then he shot himself in the head?

Yes, because it's often the mentally challenged people who perform these horrendous acts...

Not really sure how this is relevant to the situation. I'm pretty sure there have been way less of these types of events in Canada than in other countries.

Really? Maybe that's what happened, but I keep reading the police claims credit for his death. We'll never know.

Sun Sep 17, 2006 10:50 am

wow thats sad.
RIP
damn what is this retard's problem? why cant he just commit suicide in the middle of nowhere instead of causing this havoc?

edit: i was reading the sun this morning and i read that one of the members of the site who hosted a profile of some sort of this killer is suggesting to that they go on a march on the parade of canada's children's wish foundation parade day to boost their image.

Canada is by far a safer country than the US... and living in LA, you should know about how bad crime can be here.
