Windows Vista thread

Postby CERVANTES on Tue Sep 05, 2006 10:46 am

I just installed the new beta of Windows Vista and by now all looks so clean, cool and so MAC OS Xish... anyways it's looking terrific. If anyone has any doubt about Windows Vista I will try to answer all questions and give some screenshots. That's all by now. I'm going to explore this deeper!

i had installed something like this, (i believe it was vista) and it made my computer run very very slowly. then after about a week, i turned my computer on one day and it looked like windows 98, i checked to see if i could change the theme back to XP but the XP theme didnt exist anymore... i wanna know how much RAM u have and how Vista effects ur computer, and also how safe u think this program is because i might try it out again

I'm sure what you (Flite 23) installed was an XP Style, maybe looks like Vista but it's still XP. I'm having no problems with Vista, but there are so many pop-up system windows, asking lots and lots of things (allow programs to run, remembering passwords, etc). My system's basic specs are:

Pentium 4 - 3.00 GHz
2 GB of RAM
Nvidia 5700 256 MB graphics card
It's running pretty choppy on my PC now because SOMETHING physical is broken inside of the tower, but I don't know exactly what it is. The fans work correctly, there are no RAM problems, it's not a HD problem (I tried with 3 different Hard Drives and works the same way)... I'm thinking maybe it's because of the BUS or the motherboard. My PC started to run like three times slower than normal about a month ago, but I was trying to find out by myself what's happening here.

Yeah, I have 256MB of RAM and a shitty system, so until I get a new computer. no Vista for me. Anyways I have tried it on my friend's PC (Pentium IV 3.2GHz, 512DDR2 RAM, 300GB of HD, Nvidia 5700 256MB) and it still runs slowly so I guess that you need at least 1GB of RAM to run Vista.

perhaps the cord connecting your hard drive to the Mobo is messed up.

yeah, could be. It's strange because it runs smoothly during 2 seconds and then gets choppy for 1 second, and again...

In my PC it runs so smooth, I would say that even more than XP. And I'm having hardware issues though. :)

The most expensive one (Windows Vista Ultimate) will cost $349, so the rest of them will be cheaper. There will be some versions, like with XP (home, proffesional, media center, etc)

Well, I installed it in another partition. But I can't access to my documents folder of XP from vista, maybe it's because of the users restrictions and private folders and shit like that.
