Bradford City Make Big Changes
Sven Is In, So Is a New Team!

Reuters -- Sven-Goran Eriksson was signed as manger of Bradford City F.C. yesterday in a surprise move that takes the England National Team manager to an English First Division Team; two rungs below the English Premier League.

“I’m here to help this team out and try and get them back into the English Premier League,” Eriksson said in a press conference, “It will be tough but we will have a brand new team in town so we should do well.”

Bradford City had no use for any of their old squad and Eriksson made his presence felt by signing 26 year old goal keeper Igor Pera and 23 year old defender Andrew Watson in his first day of work. “Watson and Pera give us two experienced players and they will act as captains for this team,” Eriksson stated, “They will be surrounded with plenty of young talent.”

Bradford has dug in deep and come up with the top youngsters from their youth squads and also recruiting players from all over the world. 16 players will be taken on a tour of the United States next week. That squad is listed below:

Igor Pera, Sam Keon, Andrew Watson, Andres Munoz, Alexander Sotirov, Tuomas Valkonen, Khalid Sleiman, Flo Ruf, Nick Barnshaw, Will Sit, Pui Lam, Alex Bakovic, Mark Moore, Ivan Shchipans, Jamie Xi, Conrad Burry

Bradford City Disappointing in 0-0 Draw
William Sit Injured, Bradford City Fail to Score Against Nine Men

Chivas USA 0 -- Bradford City 0

Sit Should Miss 2-3 Games Due to Injury

Reuters -- English League One side Bradford City completed an overhaul of their player roster by adding 13 of the World’s best new talent and commenced their tour of the United States with a poor performance against MLS Chivas USA.

Bradford City, who was in the English Premier League between 1999 and 2004, are looking to return to the top flight of English football. With the appointment of their new manager Sven Goran Eriksson, Bradford City went on a spending spree to bring in many players from across the World.

Braford City failed to capitalise on the fact that Chivas USA was two men down for most of the second half as the MLS team grinded the game out and even threatened to score a goal in the dying moments of the game.

The English side got off to a hot start with Mark Moore’s header going just left of the goal off a Jamie Xi cross in the 4th minute. 10 minutes later, Pui Lam connected on a poor attempt of a cross from Sit. Lam was unlucky to direct the header too far to the left as well with the goal open in front of him. In the 35th minute young forward Sit was struck down hard by Ramon Ramirez. Ramirez was sent off with a red card while Sit played on before limping off the field as he hurt himself further by attempting a free kick.

The second half began slowly but the game suddenly erupted into life as Hector Cuadros was sent off after a hard tackle on Ican Shchipans in the 47th minute. Shchipans’ free kick was the closest Bradford City got to scoring as it missed just wide of the cross bar. Jamie Xi’s attempt in the 56th minute was stopped by the Chivas’ keeper. Bradford City did well as they moved the ball as a team and their great passing game got the ball to the feet of Nick Barnshaw. The Australian’s long shot was nowhere near his target though and Bradford never got closer to another attempt for the rest of the game.

Goalkeeper Igor Pera saved the team from embarrassment as he made three diving saves in the final 5 minutes of the match. The most notable one was in the 85th minute against a tough Juan Garcia header that earned the crowd’s applause. Shchipans got past the Chivas’ defence but as he latched onto a beautiful through pass from Mark Moore, the ref called an offside and later blew for the final whistle.

Bradford and Los Angeles Battle to 1-1 Draw
Vagenas’ Header Pulls Galaxy Back into a Draw

LA Galaxy 1 -- Bradford City 1

Image
Tempers flare as Watson and Ramirez had to be separated

Reuters -- Bradford City FC just couldn’t find a way to put their opponents away on the back of another strong effort. The English side scored first thanks to a Mark Moore header in the 50th minute off a beautiful Bakovic cross that curved in perfectly. The English team then watched on helplessly as Vagenas equalised off a cross in the 63rd minute.

Mark Moore was the man of the match as he created shots for himself but failed to put them back. Injured team mate Will Sit was impressed with his counterpart’s effort, “His shots just weren’t going in. Kudos to the keeper and the defence.”

Moore started the game running and gunning as he weaved into the box and launched a cracker of a shot. Hartman dived left and was lucky that the ball, which was going right, deflected off Ihemelu’s leg. Moore had a few more runs into the box and created shots for Barnshaw and Ruf who unfortunately saw their long shots saved by Hartman.

Drex played a brilliant game as he went forward whenever he had a chance to help in the attack. He was taken down just a few metres outside the penalty box. That gave Ramirez a yellow card but Drex’s free kick was poor.

After Moore scored a few minutes into the second half, he threatened to score again minutes later. A Jamie Xi through pass glided in front of his feet but he lost the foot race to the Galaxy defenders and found himself shut down by Marshall and Nagamura.

Minutes later, Vagenas finally scored the break through goal for the Galaxy who stopped Bradford City’s magical attack. Bradford were dominated in the second half but were also lucky that the Galaxy couldn’t make anything out of their runs into the Bradford territory.

Bakovic who set up the first goal by Moore again unleashed another beautiful cross which was met by Shchipans’ head. That header went just wide of the goal. Burry then made the most of a Lam cross in the 84th minute but that was saved by Hartman.

Captain Andrew Watson slid into Ramirez hard in the 87th minute and was lucky to escape a booking.

Another Draw Dampens Bradford City’s Morale
Jamie Xi Impresses Coaches as Stand In Striker

San Jose 1 -- Bradford City 1

Bakovic Celebrates His Goal

Reuters -- Bradford City continues to struggle to score in the absence of William Sit and in a game where they rested senior players Mark Moore and Nick Barnshaw. However, Jamie Xi took advantage of a depleted frontline to prove to coaches that he could be a striker one day.

Xi made it look easy as he repeatedly ran the ball into the opposition’s box and gave San Jose a scare but it was Bakovic who scored first in the 19th minute. The tall mid fielder was set up by Germany’s Flo Ruf and headed the ball into the back of the net.

Bradford then went on a tear with Shchipans getting free and launching a shot in a one on one attempt but was denied. Onstad proved very solid in goals as he also stopped Burry and Xi’s one on one attempts at scoring later in the game.

Bradford City’s Keon made his debut in goals and didn’t disappoint as he nearly kept a clean sheet. He had three successive diving saves in the 36th minute and only after saving a Chung header; was when his team was safe from San Jose’s attack. Valkonen was also impressive as he defended well and even ran the ball from halfway before being denied by Onstad.

As Bradford looked like they were heading for a win though, Cerritos broke their hearts with a low shot past Keon in the 78th minute.

Bradford City Notches First Win
Sit Starts Scoring, Shchipans Finishes It

NY/NJ Metrostars 0 -- Bradford City 2

ImageImage
Sit (Left) Points to the bench after scoring and Shchipans’ free kick (Right) was perfect

Reuters -- Striker Sit made his first start in a week after a leg injury and scored a quick goal before retreating back to the bench. Sit gave the coach what was required and that was a goal to start his team off and that turned into a win for Bradford City.

Bradford City looked comfortable after the 4th minute strike from Sit and played tough for the rest of the game. Sit’s shot was set up by Burry who dribbled past two defenders then passed the ball to Bakovic. Bakovic looked for an option and passed to Sit who was at the edge of the box. Sit faked left and turned right, thumping the ball into the goal.

Sit later came off and the team continued to play well as they shared the ball on attack. Xi’s header at the end of the first half only just missed the target. After the half time break, Bradford’s Moore missed a pair of attempts inside the box thanks to Wells.

The game was slow for the rest of the night until Shchipans was tackled at the edge of the box in the 79th minute. His free kick nearly went in but Wells got to the ball first. Shchipans then made up for his miss with an even better strike from the same spot in the 89th minute, which sealed the victory.

Bradford City finishes their tour of the USA with a game against the US National Team next Saturday.

Bradford City Win First Bradford-USA Cup
Moore Scores Winning Goal in Extra Time

United States of America 0 -- Bradford City 1

ImageImageImage
Left: Reyna wasn’t a ‘happy chappy’ at all last night
Centre: The referee sends off Team USA’s Beasley
Right: Mark Moore’s header passes USA Keeper Keller

Reuters -- The United States National Team hosted English First Division Bradford City in a battle for the first ever Bradford-USA Cup. Bradford City won the first of what organisers hope will be an annual event for the two sides.

“This was a great success,” Captain Andrew Watson said, “The tour around America and the game against the national team was good. I think that we will be back next off-season!”

The game began slowly with both teams going at each other from the start. The first attempt at goal was from America’s Reyna in the 15th minute that missed terribly. The rest of the match was a hard fought and physical affair. Bradford City set the tone early as both Valkonen and Watson made hard tackles against the Americans.

In a match where the Americans continued to call foul play, Lam was finally penalised by the officials with a yellow card in the 25th minute. Thing turned sour as Watson forced Reyna to the ground hard. The pair got into an altercation but the smaller Reyna backed off as Watson threatened to hit him.

Moore then broke into the penalty box and launched a quick shot at goal but was stopped by Keller. After the halftime break, Drex tackled Reyna and that resulted in a yellow card. Minutes later, the referee made a shock decision to send off Beasley. Bradford failed to make the most of the USA having only 10 players on the field and the game finished scoreless.

That set the stage for extra time and 4 minutes into it, Bocanegra was sent off with a red card after a dangerous sliding tackle on Sit. Bradford City breathed a sigh of relief as Sit picked himself off the floor slowly. The extra period had Barnshaw taking to desperate shots at goal that didn’t turn into anything.

Minutes from an impending penalty shootout, Sit was taken down just outside the box. He calmly took the free kick and hit it towards the right corner of goal. Keller was just quick enough to get his fingers to it and stopped the modest effort. A corner resulted from that and Sit made up for his missed shot by launching a corner into the middle of the penalty box where Kiwi Mark Moore got his head to it. The header went into the left hand corner of the goal as Keller was helpless as he just looked on.

Bradford City won the Bradford-USA cup for the first time in what they hope is the first of many times!

Bradford City AFC

Full name : Bradford City
Association Football Club
Nickname : The Bantams
Founded : 1903
Ground : Bradford & Bingley Stadium a.k.a. Valley Parade
Capacity : 25,136
Chairman : Anonymous
Manager : Sven-Goran Eriksson
League : League One
2005-06 : League One, 11th

Team rivals : Leeds United, Huddersfield Town, Halifax Town, Sheffield United, Sheffield Wednesday, Barnsley, Oldham Athletic and Burnley

Bradford City Association Football Club are an English football team based at Valley Parade (otherwise known as The Bradford & Bingley Stadium, due to stadium sponsorship) in Bradford, UK. Bradford & Bingley will also be the clubs official shirt sponsor for the 2006/2007 season.

Bradford's only major trophy to date is the FA Cup, which they secured in 1911.

Their stadium, Valley Parade, was the scene of a fierce inferno on 11 May 1985 which claimed the lives of 56 spectators on the last day of their Third Division campaign, when they finished champions of that division. They ground-shared with Leeds United and Huddersfield Town over the next 18 months before returning to a rebuilt Valley Parade. Further development at the ground have seen it achieve an all-seated capacity of 25,000.

Bradford reached the Premiership in 1999 - ending a 77-year absence from the top flight - and stayed up on the final day of the season thanks to a shock 1-0 win over Liverpool. They went down a year later after a terrible season, and a financial crisis later pushed the club to the brink of closure. They survived this financial nightmare, but were unable to avoid another relegation in 2004.

The Bantams remain in League One, the third tier of the English league, and their current manager is Colin Todd. Permission was given five years ago to increase Valley Parade's capacity to 30,000, but this seems unlikely to proceed unless the club returns to the Premiership

Looks pretty sweet man..dont suppose i can still get in on the action?

Fri Sep 01, 2006 3:31 pm

nice dynasty Sit....I'll be following how far I can lead my boys

and cwebb, I'm a bit disappointed that you're making a big issue out of it....your NLSC Live dynasty is unoriginal because it had been done many times before....your NLSC FIFA dynasty is not that original, it's essentially a like any Live dynasty, but a different sport IMHO....there have been numerous other NLSC-oriented dynasies with other game formats (ie. FM06, Sims, etc)....the only reason I raise this is, that I almost never complain when I see that someone has blatantly stolen/"borrowed" my idea....I take it as a sign of respect....if you're dedicated to your dynasty, then you will appreciate the competition....for me, I really appreciated the competition of dynasties like Micchy Boy's, Mafia's, Mark's, Sit's etc....they made me want to strive for more & think outside the box....the main thing I don't like is how you tell someone they can't post on the site....I think all Sit is trying to do is get an enjoyable FIFA dynasty going for his own purposes & he thinks incorporating online compadres would help him keep dedicated to it, as well as get him introduced to the world's number 1 sport....that's all guesswork on my part, but that's just how I see it....

I've said my piece....

Fri Sep 01, 2006 3:57 pm

Very nice stuff Sit. Make sure you spell my name right next time. :P

cwebb, seriouisly have a cry.

- As I said on msn man, no hard feelings right? And don't worry, you will get playing time much like everybody else.

- And thanks to you for the support X, just one thing though... I've followed soccer as long as I've followed the NBA. It's just that in reality, I'm a very useless footballer... lol... All I ever did was abuse the refs, dive when noone was near me and get a yellow card, score goals but also hurt the keeper at the same time... so yeh, if you count hurting opponents as good, then im not useless

Bradford City Stops Real Madrid at Home
A Spirited Draw Against a Much Superior Team

Bradford City 0 -- Real Madrid 0

ImageImageImage
Left: Flo Ruf can’t believe he got booked
Centre: David Beckham calls for his team mates to get ready for his free kick
Right: Jing Xu strolls past arguing superstars Beckham and Ronaldo

Reuters -- Never in his wildest dreams did Sam Keon dream of playing against Real Madrid and stars like Beckham, Ronaldo and Zidane. And he would never ever have thought of having to be the last line of defence against two David Beckham free kicks in the dying moments of the game.

Keon was lucky as Beckham misfired on both shots and Real Madrid was held to a scoreless 0-0 draw against Bradford City FC.

Bradford City seemed star struck for the first half as they started hesitantly. Captain Andrew Watson and star defender Andres Munoz played solid defence as they covered for their young midfield’s inexperience. The team continued to play passive football until Munoz set the tone by tackling young Brazilian Robinhio. That seemed to fuel the team and in the 34th minute, Ivan Shchipans took the ball up from halfway and lightly kicked the ball to the feet of Mark Moore. Moore proceeded to get into the penalty box and take a shot. His shot rattled the post and went out. Moore had another opportunity in the closing minute of the first half that was easily picked off by Madrid’s Casillis.

After a half time drubbing from their coach, Bradford City came out of the locker room looking refreshed and ready to take the challenge. After soaking up the dream-come-true of playing against Real Madrid, the Bradford youngsters began to play a more aggressive brand of football.

Buckley’s hard challenge on Zidane earned him a yellow card in the 48th minute and the cards didn’t stop there as Flo Ruf and Andres Munoz would later be booked within minutes of each other. Bradford City were great on defence but nowhere near as good on the attack as Real Madrid limited their options and didn’t let players get into space.

Beckham then had a free kick in the 87th minute after being tackled by Buckely. He narrowly missed but minutes later, Buckley’s hard sliding tackle got him sent off and also awarded Beckham with a free kick in the 90th minute.

After Beckham hesitated before taking a shot at goal, the Bradford City faithful breathe a collective sigh of relief.

The game marked the debuts of defensive mid-fielders Jing Xu and Alex Buckley who were rushed into the team yesterday.

word to your mother.

good shit yo. EA did a great job on Beckham, he can't shoot Penalty Kicks/Free Kicks in real life and he also sucks ingame.

Sat Sep 02, 2006 2:31 am

Well good game against real madrid. niceness, i tackled zidane and beckham but ended up getting sent off.

The X, maybe my NLSC Live dynasty isnt original, but i believe i have more players in it (29) then anyone around and im not sure if any other all-nlsc live dynasties have made it to the postseason (or at least played 30 games).

I tried adding a twist to my FIFA dynasty with the Brazilname thing....even though the downside is that its FIFA 02 with shitty levels of ratings and no stats other then goals. But its not like I can drive to the store and get fifa 06 (I'm only 14). Also did anyone realize that ALMOST THE EXACT SAME PLAYERS appear in this dynasty. (aorund 14 or 15 of those 17 or 18 on that roster wree from my thing).

Sit had thought of the idea of this dynasty around last saturday, when i had told him about the news i heard of my uncles death that morning. Until everything was straightened out, I had told him that I might have my FIFA dynasty on hold for a while. He thought of this as a sort of way so I dont have to continue it, even though I had no plans of stopping the dynasty. For those who think that this had nothing to do with it, you are wrong. If that was the case, Sit would have told me about this dynasty before I had told him of the recent death in my family.

Before you say "you should be thankful that someone stepped up and made one of these in honor of you", I might be selfish, but i like having the label of being the ONLY one to make a FIFA dynasyt with all nlsc players. But what the fuck, I'll take the competition that i have now.
